Where the cast of Sabrina the Teenage Witch are now as spooky sitcom turns 30
There are some TV shows that you watch once and move on from, and then there's Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
First landing on screen in September 1996, the supernatural sitcom quickly became a staple of 90s childhoods, following Sabrina Spellman as she navigated school, boys, friendship and the small matter of discovering she was a witch.
Across seven seasons, fans watched her get to grips with her powers while being guided - and occasionally spectacularly derailed - by her eccentric aunts Hilda and Zelda, with wisecracking talking black cat Salem always on hand to cause chaos.
And now, somehow, the beloved series is turning 30.

That's right - three decades have passed since Sabrina first picked up her spellbook, yet the show remains a firm nostalgia favourite, helped by its instantly recognisable characters, magical mishaps and the kind of 90s fashion that has somehow found its way back into our wardrobes.
It also proved to be a major stepping stone for several of its stars, with Melissa Joan Hart, Caroline Rhea and others going on to build lengthy careers across television, film, comedy, theatre and beyond.
Its staying power has been pretty impressive, too.
The original cast reunited at events including 90s Con, while Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick even returned to their beloved roles for Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
So, with the milestone anniversary upon us, fans might be wondering where exactly the stars of Sabrina the Teenage Witch are now?
Melissa Joan Hart - Sabrina Spellman
Of course, we have to start with the girl at the centre of it all.
Melissa Joan Hart played Sabrina Spellman, the teenager who discovers on her 16th birthday that she comes from a long line of witches. Living with her aunts Hilda and Zelda - and Salem, a warlock trapped in the body of a cat - Sabrina spent the series attempting to balance her supernatural abilities with the very ordinary problems of being a teenager.
For Hart, the role came after another hugely recognisable childhood part - Clarissa Darling in Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All.
She had already become a familiar face to young viewers before stepping into Sabrina's shoes, but the witchy sitcom cemented her as one of the defining stars of 90s television.
After Sabrina ended in 2003, Hart continued acting while expanding her career behind the camera.
She starred opposite Joey Lawrence in Melissa & Joey, appeared in films and television projects including Nine Dead, Robot Chicken and The Casagrandes, and became a regular face in Lifetime's Christmas movie line-up.
She has also developed a significant career as a director, taking the helm on episodes of shows including The Goldbergs, Young Sheldon and the iCarly revival. In 2023, she even competed as Lamp on The Masked Singer.
Hart has also put pen to paper, publishing her memoir Melissa Explains It All: Tales from My Abnormally Normal Life in 2013, looking back on her childhood stardom, Clarissa, Sabrina and life in Hollywood.
And the Sabrina connection clearly hasn't disappeared. Hart has continued to reunite with her former cast-mates over the years, including recent get-togethers with Nate Richert and Beth Broderick - much to the delight of fans.
Caroline Rhea - Hilda Spellman
If Sabrina was the calm, Aunt Hilda was the storm.
Caroline Rhea played Hilda Spellman, Sabrina's fun-loving aunt whose impulsive streak often put her at odds with her more sensible sister Zelda.
The pair were two of the most important figures in Sabrina's life, helping her navigate the strange world of witchcraft while also providing plenty of the show's comedy.
Rhea arrived on Sabrina with a comedy background, having moved to New York in the 1980s to pursue stand-up. She performed at venues including Catch a Rising Star and The Comic Strip before going on to appear in televised comedy specials for HBO, Bravo and Showtime.
And her career after Hilda has been anything but quiet.
Rhea became the host of The Caroline Rhea Show and was the original host of NBC's The Biggest Loser. She also became known to a whole new generation as the voice of Linda Flynn-Fletcher in Disney's Phineas and Ferb, appearing in more than 100 episodes.
She's continued to act, too, appearing in films including Christmas with the Kranks and The Perfect Man, alongside television roles in Sydney to the Max and Lopez vs. Lopez.
And, in a particularly magical full-circle moment, she returned as Hilda in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in 2020.
Rhea has also continued performing stand-up, with live comedy shows still part of her career decades after she first picked up Hilda's spellbook.
Beth Broderick - Zelda Spellman
Played by Beth Broderick, Zelda was Sabrina's other aunt and the more serious half of the Spellman sister duo.
She was the one more likely to worry about consequences while Hilda was busy charging head-first into the next magical disaster.
Broderick already had an impressive list of credits before joining Sabrina, including The Bonfire of the Vanities, Hearts Afire and The 5 Mrs. Buchanans. But Zelda would become the role that audiences knew her for around the world.
Since the sitcom wrapped, Broderick has continued working steadily across television and film. Her credits include Lost, Cold Case, Castle and Under the Dome, where she played Rose Twitchell. She's also appeared in Criminal Minds, Shrill, Walker and Love & Death.
And, like Rhea, Broderick got the chance to step back into the Spellman family home for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, reuniting with Hart for Melissa & Joey along the way.
So while Zelda may have left the Spellman house behind, Broderick certainly hasn't left the world of television.
Nate Richert - Harvey Kinkle
Ah, Harvey.
Sabrina's long-time love interest and high-school sweetheart, Harvey Kinkle was the charmingly oblivious mortal at the centre of one of the show's most memorable romances.
His relationship with Sabrina went through its fair share of break-ups, make-ups and magical complications, making him an essential part of the series.
Harvey was also Nate Richert's screen debut, with the actor landing the role and remaining part of the series for its seven-year run.
After Sabrina, Richert appeared in projects including Lovely & Amazing, Survival Island, The Tony Danza Show, Fantasy Island and Touched by an Angel. But acting wasn't ultimately where his career settled.
Instead, Richert turned his attention towards music.
He's worked as a musician, songwriter and director, with folk listed as his musical genre and guitar, banjo, drums and harmonica among his instruments. He also released music independently, making a rather unexpected change of direction from one of the most recognisable teen heartthrobs of the '90s.
Still, Harvey hasn't been forgotten. Richert has occasionally reunited with his former co-stars, including Hart and Broderick, giving fans the chance to see the man behind one of television's most nostalgic boyfriends all over again.
Nick Bakay - Salem Saberhagen
And then, of course, there was Salem.
Technically, Salem was a cat. But really, he was the show's resident scene-stealer.
Nick Bakay provided the voice of Salem Saberhagen, the former warlock who had been transformed into a cat as punishment. His sarcastic one-liners, schemes and attempts to regain power became one of the biggest reasons Salem became such an iconic part of the series.
But Bakay wasn't simply the man behind the meows.
He's also a writer, comedian, producer and sports commentator, and had already worked in comedy before Sabrina, including writing for In Living Color and The Dennis Miller Show.
Following Sabrina, Bakay continued to work extensively behind the scenes. He appeared in The King of Queens and 'Til Death, voiced characters in shows including The Angry Beavers and The Simpsons, and appeared in the film Zookeeper.
His producing career has been particularly notable. From 2013 to 2021, he worked as an executive producer, writer and director on the CBS sitcom Mom, before also taking executive-producer credits on Young Sheldon and The Kominsky Method.
He even continued writing films, co-writing comedies including Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Zookeeper and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
So while Salem may have spent seven seasons plotting world domination from inside a cat's body, Bakay went on to build an equally busy career behind the camera.
