A new Netflix series is in the works and we've got a feeling Harry Potter fans are going to love it.

Currently in production, Fate: The Winx Saga follows a group of BFFs as they navigate their tricky teenage years at a magical boarding school.

Sound familiar? We're already getting major Hogwarts vibes with a dash of high school drama á la Gossip Girl and it's fair to say we can't wait.

The Netflix original series is inspired by Nickelodeon's The Winx Club (

The six-part live-action series, produced by Vampire Diaries showrunner Brian Young, is inspired by Nikelodeon cartoon The Winx Club, which is based on a magical world of witches, fairies and other mythical creatures.

The OG show, which premiered in 2004 and was a major ratings success, follows the adventures of 'fairy warrior' Bloom at Alfea College and featured voiceovers from the likes of Ariana Grande.

Announcing the latest revival, Netflix said: "Inspired by the Italian cartoon format, Fate: The Winx Saga follows the coming-of-age journey of five unlikely female friends attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating, love, rivalries and the monsters that threaten their very existence."

Jennifer Breslow of Netflix added: "We are extremely proud to bring this iconic set of strong female characters to life. We are committed to delivering a live action series that honors the original animated series, but also allows new fans to come along for the ride.

"Brian Young has done an incredible job with the adaptation and found a way to create a wildly entertaining and addictive genre series."

The series, which began filming in Ireland last year, will star Abigail Cowen (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Bloom alongside Hannah Van Der Westhuyseas Stella, and Precious Mustapha (Endeavour) as Aisha.

The reboot, aimed at young adults, was first announced back in 2018 with executive producer Iginio Straffi calling it "edgier and darker than what [fans] can imagine."

The launch date is yet to be announced; but production is now underway and we're expecting it to land by the end of the year - so watch this space.
