Ariana Grande reveals one 'Wicked' merch item that left her disturbed

The Glinda the Good Witch actress shared her thoughts on the bizarre item with Seth Meyers on Late Night yesterday (18 December)

It's been almost a full month since Wicked: For Good was released in cinemas - and we're still not over it.

The highly anticipated second movie came a year after the first instalment, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda the Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.

And now that everyone's had the chance to head to the cinema and see it, the celebrity cast are continuing to do interviews, delving into their favourite scenes and dropping snippets of how it came together behind the scenes.

On Thursday (18 December), Ariana chatted with Seth Meyers on Late Night, where she delved into the one Wicked merch item that she's not completely on board with.

It's no secret that the beloved movies have come with a whole load of promo - for the entire month of November, you could barely go anywhere without seeing pink and green.

Cinemas have been selling Wicked popcorn buckets and drink cups, while people have been adding T-shirts, pyjamas and accessories to their Christmas lists.

Not to mention Elphaba's viral 'sex cardigan' from the movie, as it's been dubbed by fans, with some people insisting they want a replica brought out as merch. But it's actually a food item that the leading lady found a bit strange.

Meyers asked: "Was there a particular piece of merch that you were most covetous of when you saw it?"

To which the singer responded: "First of all, my mum has everything. She went a little too hard. And I was like, ‘Mum, it’s okay, Universal, they’re gonna send it, it’s okay!’ And then she’d be like, ‘No, no, no, no, I need, like, 30!”

Ariana added that a few of the items, though, were 'a little disturbing', as she explained: "Like the pink and green - I hope this is okay to say - the pink and green, was it mac and cheese that they did?"

Meyers agreed: "Yeah, I think it’s fair to say that’s disturbing."

“That was when I knew, ‘Oh, this is big!’,” Ariana said, "It’s a little bigger than I thought."

I mean, what doesn't say success like having coloured mac and cheese to promote your movie?

If you have no idea what she's talking about, Walmart are selling a 'Wicked Mystery Color Macaroni and Cheese Cup'.

The retailer's website has this description written alongside the product: "Create spellbinding Mac & Cheese in your favourite Great Value original cheesy flavour revealed to be either in Enchantingly Emerald or Perfectly Pink hues, inspired by Wicked the movie; See which colour your mix will reveal!"

Essentially, your mac and cheese will turn either pink or green to represent Glinda or Elphaba, and it's become somewhat of a viral meme online, with fans rushing out to stores to try it.

And the internet is loving that Ariana knows it exists, with one Twitter user writing: "LMAO at least she’s honest!" while a second added: "She knows that was unhinged."

A third added: "Pink and green mac & cheese is definitely where the marketing crossed into jump-scare territory."

And a final X user joked: "When the merch hits mac n’ cheese levels, you know it’s gone too far."
