It's the show that has blessed us with one-liners such as "You can't ring Childline every time your mother threatens to kill you" and "It wasn't bullying, it was attempted bullying", yet much-loved Irish sitcom Derry Girls could be warming up for its final series.
The Channel 4 show was confirmed for its third series pretty much immediately after the finale of series 2 aired in April 2019. Yet, a possible spoiler from one of the cast may have just confirmed it'll be the last. (Sob.)

The hilarious sitcom, written by Derry-born Lisa McGee, follows Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), her cousin Orla (Louisa Harland), their friends Michelle (Jamie-Lee O'Donnell) and Clare (Nicola Coughlan), and Michelle's English cousin James (Dylan Llewellyn) as they navigate their teenage years during the end of the early 1990's 'Troubles' in Derry.
The girls attend a strict Catholic girl's secondary, Our Lady Immaculate Girls' School, where James has also enrolled for his safety due to his English accent.
"I feel lucky to be working with such funny people. There are two members of the cast that I can't look at because I laugh," added Tommy speaking about his co-stars.

"It's enough to bring you out in sweats. Kathy Kiera Clarke [Aunt Sarah] who plays my sister in law... Kathy is one of the funniest people that I've ever worked with and I'm just not able to look at her. [...]
"Like how can I keep a straight face? We find it very difficult... and I also find it impossible to look at Orla who's her daughter."
Tommy also confirmed the cast will be back filming in April, with no word of yet when series 3 will air.
Tyla has contacted Channel 4 for comment.

We're praying this news isn't true - we could never get bored of Derry Girls!
However, if it is set to be the sitcom's final run, then at least there might potentially be a movie in the works. Silver linings, and all.
In an interview with Red Carpet News, Derry Girls writer and creator Lisa McGee revealed that a film version was 'definitely' being discussed.

"That's definitely something we're talking about and something I'd like to explore," she said. "It's just if the story is right. So, it's about me figuring all that out... at some point!"
"There's definitely a very personal journey that they go on, as well as a political one. It's an exciting time for them because they're just on the cusp of adulthood."
We have a feeling series 3 won't disappoint.
