Kylie Jenner hits back at claims she mocked Selena Gomez

The war over laminated eyebrows is not a war at all, according to both stars.

Kylie Jenner has spoken out after fans of Selena Gomez accused her of mocking the actress and singer in a social media post.

It all started on Tuesday (21 February) when Rare Beauty founder shared a video to her now-deactivated TikTok story in which she poked fun about her ‘accidentally’ over-laminated eyebrows.

Later that same day, Kylie posted a close-up selfie which got fans talking.

“This was an accident ?????” she captioned the picture.

Shortly after, the Kylie Cosmetics businesswoman shared that selfie, she added a screenshot of herself and close friend Hailey Bieber on FaceTime, with both gals zooming in on their eyebrows.

Some fans assumed that Kylie's post was referencing Selena.

Selena and Hailey obviously have history as the former and current partner to pop superstar Justin Bieber, respectively.

Fans of all three celebs noted the truly eyebrow-raising timing of The Kardashians star’s Instagram post. Some folks believed that the mum-of-two was clearly throwing shots at the Only Murders in the Building star and the inclusion of Bieber’s wife was particularly suspicious.

It should come as no surprise that Kylie's social media posts after Selena's eyebrow admission went viral. TikToker @devotedly.yours analysed the situation and even through they acknowledged that they might be 'reaching'. They claimed that Kylie's Instagram Stories 'sure looked like' a dig at the former Disney Channel star.

One TikTok user commented: “Mean girls.”

Another shared: “They are obsessed with Sel! Gonna play Mariah Carey song for Selena Gomez.”

A third chimed in and said: “Kylie never posts stories like that with a text so I agree.”

A fourth wrote: “Isn’t it because Selena Gomez is close to having more followers than Kylie Jenner on Insta? There’s videos going around of them having the same amount.”

However, not everyone agreed that Kylie was trying to be shady.

One fan said: “Unpopular opinion but I think it’s a reach that Kylie cares to trash Selena. I’ve also accidentally taken pics of myself with front camera.”

Kylie joined the conversation by commenting on the video.

“This is reaching,” she declared. “No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.”

Kylie responded to the video.

Selena replied to Kylie’s comment and reassured her fans that there’s no bad blood between the two cosmetics moguls.

She wrote: “Agreed @kyliejenner it’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!”

On Thursday - not long after reclaiming the title as Instagram's most followed woman - Selena announced on TikTok that she's taking a break from social media shortly after defending Taylor Swift over a post where Hailey Bieber appeared to criticise her.
