The third series promises plenty of action as we see in the opening moments of the teaser with the realisation that the siblings have created a time paradox but not any type of paradox, "the freaking Kugelblitz" to quote Five.

To prevent the paradox from destroying all lifeforms, the Umbrellas need to find a way to work with the Sparrows, their family in alternative reality.

The show, which wrapped filming the latest installment in August, has proven to be a runaway success for Netflix since in debuted in 2018.

After it was the streaming service’s sixth-most watched show in 2020, a third season was ordered that November.

For those of you less familiar with the genre-bending series, The Umbrella Academy follows a group of adopted siblings all born during an extremely unusual phenomenon. After going their separate ways, the family ‘reunites’ to solve the mystery behind their father's death.

In the second season's finale, which saw the group return back to their present day timeline having previously been transported into the 1960s, they find they’ve messed with the previously established timeline.

Travelling back to an alternate universe, the siblings found their father and brother Ben were still alive.

The Umbrella Academy also had to deal with the news that their father, Reginald, had created a rival group, called The Sparrow Academy.

While the cast have been cagey about what we can expect from the new season, show runner Steve Blackman has previously said he hopes to explore more of the Hargreeves’ family history in the show’s third outing.

“Trying to understand their origin is one of the themes we are going to address next year,” he said.

"The first season was meet the family. Season two was get to know the family. Season three is, who are we and where did we come from? What are we as superheroes? [That] is really a story I'd love to think about more in season three.”

Not only that but the series announced earlier this month that a very familiar face was joining the cast, Euphoria’s Javon Walton.

The young actor who is best known for playing drug dealer and killer Ashtray in the dark and provocative HBO high school drama.

The Umbrella Academy season three drops 22nd June on Netflix.

The official Netflix account shared a picture of Javon at the time and tweeted: “I heard a rumor… that Javon Walton is joining the cast of Umbrella Academy Season 3 — and I’m happy to confirm that it is true!"

Javon has been one of the most familiar faces in Euphoria since the series began in 2019.

The boxer and actor has not revealed whether he will return for the upcoming third season of Euphoria, which is slated to air in 2024.

We wouldn’t want spoilers about Ashtray’s fate so far ahead of time!
