Michelle Keegan has been announced to star in a brand-new Netflix thriller series, based on the novel by Harlan Coben.

The series, Fool Me Once, will be the streaming platform's eighth Harlan Coben adaptation.

Netflix UK shared the exciting news yesterday (20 February) via their social media channels, and announced that Keegan, 35, would star in the latest series as main character Maya Stern.

Joining Keegan will be a star-studded cast filled with the likes of Adeel Akhtar, who will play Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce, and Joanna Lumley, who will lead alongside Keegan as Judith Burkett.

The eight-part thriller will give fans an incredible adaptation of the popular novel Fool Me Once, written and published by Coben in 2016.

The synopsis for the series follows Keegan's character, Maya, trying to come to terms with the heinous murder of her husband, Joe, played by Richard Armitage.

Yet, after installing a nanny-cam to keep on eye on her daughter, the mother is terrified to see a man she recognises skulking about in her house.

The creepy figure in question is none other than her husband who she was led to believe was dead.

A series of investigations arise as Maya desperately tries to get to the bottom of the case.

Filming for the series has already begun in various Manchester locations.

Coben was over-the-moon about the announcement, saying: "I’m thrilled and honoured to once again be collaborating with my uber-talented partners Danny, Nicola and Richard."
