Warning, spoilers ahead for Harlen Coben's Netflix series, I Will Find You.

We all love a bit of escapist telly and you usually can't go wrong with a Harlen Coben thriller, but some viewers have been pointing out a 'ridiculous' plotline in his latest work.

Thrillers are known for pushing the boundaries a little in search of drama and tension, but in I Will Find You on Netflix, it seems one particular storyline went a step too far.

Based on the book of the same name, the miniseries begins with David Burroughs in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

A former law professor, he is serving a life sentence for killing his son and has been in prison for five years.

He refused all visitors because he felt guilty for failing to protect his son, even though he didn't kill him, but he eventually managed to escape from prison.

That's not the bit people are having difficulty believing though, but a later section which involves the IVF process.

Understandably, it's a highly emotive topic for many people who are going through it themselves.

One viewer wrote: "We actually really liked I Will Find You, but struggled with some of the plot lines.. this one in particular, because it would never happen."

They shared a screenshot of a summary of the show, which features one of the characters, Cheryl, going to a fertility clinic and being unknowingly inseminated with the sperm of a man called Hayden, only for her to find out the very next morning she was pregnant with David's child.

The insemination scandal was all part of a bigger twist as to why a child went missing, mistaken identity and more (it's a very confusing show) but the IVF and pregnancy line was a major point of contention for viewers.

They say that in reality, a fertility clinic would have carried out a pregnancy test before doing the procedure, and viewers have been left frustrated by the 'ridiculous' and 'wildly inaccurate' plot twist.

"The #1 Netflix show right now “I Will Find You” has the most ridiculous IVF plot line ever," fumed one on Reddit. "I had to pause and actually laugh out loud because the fertility clinic storyline is so wildly inaccurate and cray. I know TV isn’t real life, but wow… whoever wrote this clearly did not consult a single fertility patient."

"I watched the show as well and she goes 'After insemination, i felt sick a bit early and then i tested to find that i am pregnant with my husbands and not the donor' As per her logic, she ovulated twice in a week. LOL. Crazy. And then inseminated without tracking her cycle. LOL," added another.

"The 'got pregnant naturally right before IVF' thing is such lazy writing. like congrats on the miracle but also that's not how any of this works, you don't just spontaneously conceive while prepping for retrieval. the hormone blame for mood swings is always the worst too," said one viewer.

"It’s a stupid plot line because in no universe would a fertility clinic do a random IUI without a pregnancy test before hand and no cycle info with donor sperm that was just on hand the day of her consultation," swore another.

Someone else agreed: "I literally said to my husband, “that’s not at all whatsoever how it happens” in the midst of the episodes… Sooooooo unrealistic!!"

"My husband and I laughed and laughed and laughed at this part of the show as well. It literally made no sense at all!! You test before transferring hahahaha and you don't just randomly transfer an embryo," added another.

Others were still able to enjoy it regardless, but wanted to warn other IVF patients it could be frustrating.
