Love Island's Luca admits he was 'fuming' after coming in second place

The pair lost out to Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti who won by a landslide with 63.7 percent of the public vote.

Love Island star Luca Bish admitted that he was left ‘fuming’ that he and partner Gemma Owen missed out on being crowned 2022’s winning couple. Watch the moment below:

The pair lost out to Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti who won by a landslide with 63.7 percent of the public vote.

During Sunday’s Love Island: The Reunion, viewers were given a chance to see the fishmonger, 23, and 19-year-old Gemma’s reaction learning of their second place finish on last week's final.

In response, Luca admitted to the cameras moments after the result: "I’m fuming."

To which Gemma said: "Oh don’t start!" before Luca quickly clarifying: "I’m joking!"

Despite his declaration it was a ‘joke’, many fans thought otherwise and cast doubt on his claims within moments of the comment being aired.

Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts and some hilarious memes, one penned: "You was fuming Luca. Don’t lie."

"Are you sure ur joking luca?" another tweeted. "We all know ur not joking" (sic).

A fourth agreed with others sentiments and wrote: "we all know ur not joking" (sic).

"nah you’re not [joking] tho are ya Luca," a viewer remarked. Another claimed: "Luca still looking like he want a recount."

The couple finished as runners up.

On Monday (8 August), the Love Island runners up appeared on Good Morning Britain, where they responded to split rumours since leaving the villa.

The pair ruled out any speculation that they could be on the rocks, with Luca explaining Gemma 'had changed' since leaving the show.

When asked if either of them seem a little different to each other, now they've returned to the UK, Luca said: "You've changed a little.

"For the better, she's come more out of her shell. When I saw you with your mum and stuff."

"I'm super close to my mum," Gemma added.

The pair also addressed whether they are 'official' yet, with Gemma explaining: "We're pretty much official, we've just not got a label on it."

Looking at Luca, she added: "That's up to you now," with Luca promising he 'will do it'.

Speaking to ITV after the series finale aired, Luca explained how he might ask Gemma to be his girlfriend. He said: "There is a plan and it will hopefully happen in the next month and I’m sure you’ll see it unfold. It’ll be something to do with a swimming pool. "

And Gemma chimed in: "He knows me well enough now to not do anything too cringe! So, I trust him and I’ll let him get on with it. I’m sure I’ll love it, whatever it is."

On Sunday evening, Luca and Gemma appeared alongside the rest of the Love Island 2022 cast for the reunion show.

And there was a bit of drama between two Islanders - Coco and Summer - who got into a heated argument while being interviewed. You can read more on that here.
