What do you put on your chips first? Salt, or vinegar? And does it really make a difference?!
Well, apparently so, because one person has sparked a huge debate on Twitter about which should be added first, and it turns out some people have very strong opinions on the matter.
Posting a snap of a portion of chips being doused in vinegar, the Twitter user wrote: "Vinegar or salt first?"
There were several interesting theories in favour of salt first. One person replied immediately, explaining: "Salt first; then vinegar rinses salt through. Pure physics for me."

While another agreed, adding: "Salt first, then vinegar to wash the salt through to lower chips [in] the pile, then a dash more salt to the top layer.... Job done!"
"Salt first as the vinegar then washes the salt over the rest of chips rather than just very salty chips at the top & hardly salted chips at the bottom!" Said another.
Others, however, were completely adamant that the only correct way, was vinegar and then salt.

"Vinegar first or salt will be washed off. Plus the salt then sticks to the vinegar," one explained.
While another added: "I used to do salt then vinegar but I learnt the error of my ways. Vinegar first then it doesn't wash all the salt away, it took me 53 years to find this out."
Meanwhile, one person who used to work in a chippy seemed to settle the debate, explaining: "Having worked in a chippy a long time ago in my youth its vinegar first then salt."

Others explained there's also a secret way to season your chips, revealing the best option is to salt first, then vinegar - which should wash some of the salt down onto the chips underneath, before salting the top layer again.
Well, that sounds like a pretty good method to us! Do you agree?
