People Divided By Mum's Method Of Plating Up Chinese Takeaway

Genius or just plain daft? The jury is out...

There's a new debate which is dividing the internet right now - to serve your Chinese takeaway on a communal tray or dish it up plate by plate?

We know it might seem a bit niche, but one mum caused quite a stir when she showed off the new plating method on TikTok recently, divvying all her containers out at once so that people could dip in as they wised.

Check it out below:

Some people thought the method was a stroke of genius, allowing people to see the whole spread in one place, and help themselves as they please.

However, others were less convinced, suggesting that putting all the food out in one go would only mean it went cold before you got to eat it all, and likely all blend together.

Plus, they also mentioned the obvious issue of more washing up...

The TikTok video, shared by @mummy_gascoigne, shows a kitchen tray being filled with piping hot containers of food - and we must admit it's a tasty sight to behold.

First the chips are piled on, before a portion of ribs is added, followed by the stir-fried noodles.

Next goes the chicken curry, before the TikTokker adds egg fried rice and sweet and sour chicken to the mix.

All the cartons were emptied out (

Salt and pepper chicken is then thrown in for good measure, too, alongside a pancake roll, before a good glug of sauce is added, alongside some prawn crackers and a portion of spring rolls.

"Thank you for this brilliant amazing thing you have created," one person wrote in the comments after coming across the video.

Meanwhile, another concurred: "NOW THAT'S CLASS".

Disagreeing with the fans of the plating concept, another snarky TikTokker wrote: "Might as well smother your table in it".

As a fourth chipped in nervously: "IT'S ALL TOUCHING".

Another chipped in: "If its for several ppl better to put it on seperate plates image the mess when they try to take anything of[f] that bundle of mess (sic)".

"I'm so confused why did you put it on the tray and then onto plates when you could have just put it from the boxes onto plates," someone else queried.

So, there you have it. Is this takeaway tray a stroke of genius or a waste of time?

The jury's still out on this one...
