One TikTok user was astonished at how dirty her cushions were after she tried out a hack to clean them.

Sophie Louise (@s_lou92) had a go at the viral #laundrystripping hack she'd seen on the app and was taken aback by the results.

See for yourself below:

"So obviously I had to jump on this laundry strip that everyone's doing," Sophie Louise begins. "I needed to do a few of my cushion covers on my sofa."

In the clip, Sophie explains how to do the hack, telling viewers that she filled her bath with water before adding washing powder, fabric conditioner and bicarbonate of soda, plus some Zoflora Linen Fresh.

The TikTok user then adds the dirty cushion covers to the bath and shows viewers the effect of the laundry strip on her home furnishings.

Prepare yourself, it's stomach churning stuff...

In the short clip, she goes on to explain how the bath water's colour changed "straightaway", sharing a clip of how muddy the water appeared after two minutes and at 30 minutes, and calling it "vile" and "disgusting".

She adds: "And then I left mine for like two hours and look at that."

"I then whacked them [the cushion covers] in the washing machine, just for a spin, cause these covers are actually really thick," she goes on.

"And you wanna see the aftermath?" she asks, as she shows the sludgey-coloured bath water. "That's what it looks like. Pure grim. Get rid of that. And look what I was left with? All those little gritty bits. Urgh. It was on my sofa."

Despite Sophie Louise's sofa being only two years old, the cleaning influencer was shocked at how grimy it appeared after she tried out the hack.

The mum of two isn't the first person to try laundry stripping. If you want to scare yourself off touching anything in your house ever again, check out this influencer's attempt to clean her bath towel.

Sorry, if we had to see it, you do too.
