Plenty of women have appointments at their local nail salons every week... but are you making this simple mistake that can make things difficult for your nail technician?

One nail artist and coach, @blossomacademy_ has taken to Instagram to show users the mistake clients make when visiting salons - and it's totally blown our minds.

Are you guilty of doing this? You can watch the video below:

And users were so shocked by the video, with many not realising they had been making this mistake for years.

One person wrote: "Well who knew! :joy: thanks for teaching us how it should be. I always thought that stand had the light on it so you could see best. Perfect nail customer from now on!"

While another said: "I'm the worst for it."

This correct way of using the cushion makes it easier for your nail artist to reach the nails, and will be less likely to cause smudges when drying.

Another nail artist could relate, taking to the post to comment: "Constantly having to lift their arm and bring it forward just to go back to the hand resting once it comes out of them lamp again."

And another said: "This is fab :raised_hands:just shared also thankyou."

While a third added: "This happens every time hahahahha."

Blossom Academy has shared a number of other nail tips and tricks to Instagram, including guides to nail prep and taking care of your cuticles.

Across both Instagram and TikTok plenty of users have been revealing simply beauty mistakes we've all been making!

Just recently a TikTok went viral, explaining how we've all been using hyaluronic acid wrong.

And when it comes to experts they're certainly the right people to go for advice. One has recently explained that we've all been storing our skincare products wrong.

Apparently, rather than being displayed in our bathrooms, this products should be stored away in a cool, dry space.
