While Storm Ali absolutely batters the north of the UK, it might be a good time to finally admit that summer is officially over.
But, admittedly, the end of summer and the beginning of colder mornings and dark nights can be really hard for some people to accept, because who wouldn't want to live in flip flops all year round?
Well, we could actually - thanks to the genius invention that is flip flop socks. Yep, socks and sandals might well be a cardinal sin but people are making special socks that will keep your tootsies warm without poking out of your flip flops. What a time to be alive.

However, while the UK embraces the vicious Storm Ali, we might have to hang up the flip flops for a few days as Scotland, Northern Ireland and north England are currently under a weather warning from the Met Office.
Forecasters warn of danger to life from power cuts, damage to buildings and even flying debris as 80pmh winds storm in from the Atlantic.

Meteorologist, Dean Hall, warned: "We could see close to 80mph, possibly even higher miles per hour in exposed areas in the far north of the country."
Despite Autumn not officially kicking off until next week, the autumnal conditions come after commuters in Scotland and northern England were faced with the remnants of Storm Helene which was downgraded from hurricane force.
Best get ordering those flip flop socks after all.
