Shoppers are rushing off to one particular outlet to purchase a set of shoes that look exactly like Ugg boots, but come at a fraction of the price.

Whether you love them or hate them, you have to admit that Ugg boots are everywhere.

At around this time of year, they become simply unavoidable, with everyone seemingly owning a pair.

However, they might not all be genuine Uggs, as there are a number of ‘dupes’ that look exactly like the brown fleece-lined boots, but don’t cost anything like as much.

For a set of Ugg boots, you’ll usually pay something in the vicinity of £155.

That’s not absolutely ridiculous for a pair of strong shoes, given how much shoes can go for, but it’s still a sizeable outlay and times are hard at the moment.

Here's the original Uggs.

But one canny shopper has noticed – and is spreading the word – about a pair of boots that look exactly like Uggs, but come in more than £100 cheaper.

If you want to get yourself a pair, they’re on sale at River Island and look exactly like Ugg’s ‘ultra mini platform boots’.

The major difference being that they don’t have a famous word written on them, and will only cost you £35.

Maths fans will be able to work out that you can save a gigantic £120 buying these shoes instead.

Are they £120 worse than the others? It might just be worth the gamble.

This news was brought to a lot of people’s attention by TikTok user @watergardensharlow, who shared a video showing off the River Island ‘brown faux fur lining platform boots’ whilst comparing them with the designer Ugg originals.

They said: "How UNREAL are these @River Island platform Ugg dupes, definitely a winter essential!"

The text over that particular video read: “Platform Ugg dupes at River Island”.

‘Dupes’ are absolutely everywhere these days, which probably isn’t a surprise given the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

But, if it’s good enough for Aldi and Lidl, it’s good enough for everyone.

Both shoes have almost exactly the same features, including the faux fur lining, rubber platform sole and suede-like texture to them.

Are the dupes really that different?

How will they both stand up to the British winter?

Well, you’ll have to test that out for yourselves.

It seems as if there’ll be a decent sample size for that particular experiment, as the video has been viewed more than 188,000 times, with loads of comments suggesting that people are at least considering a purchase.

“These are cute,” said one.

“I want,” said another, while a third wrote: “I love them!”

Well, you know where you have to go.
