A 57p supplement has been hailed for helping banish period acne.

The capsules, designed for everyday use, are made from astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant derived from algae which mirrors some of the properties of vitamin C.

Coming in at £16 for a 28-day supply (roughly 57p a day), its antioxidant properties can also help protect skin and eyes from light damage as well as boosting brain function, according to the brand behind the supplements.

The capsules are garnering rave reviews, with one customer saying: “My skin has become better barely a breakout even during my cycle. Has helped with dark circles under my eyes.”

Another reviewer raved: “I’m on my second month of the antioxidant and I can definitely see a difference. Skin looks brighter and plumper. Skin protection was my main reason for trying and I definitely feel it’s doing that. Would definitely recommend.”

Another wrote: “Only been taking it for a couple of weeks but my skin [feels] a lot softer and I have had some very positive comments.”

The supplements are from GP Nutrition, the brain child of former model Gabriella Peacock who turned to the world of nutrition after being given 'conflicting advice' during her fashion career. She now works as a nutritional therapist to celebrity clients, and her supplement range is designed to help with everything from sleep to immunity, hormonal balance, energy levels and general wellness.

Speaking about her brand, she said: "I wanted to reach a wider audience than I could through my London clinic, so I launched GP Nutrition to do just that. I’m passionate about the impact high-quality supplements have in every area of our lives."

According to the brand, you should take one capsule per day with a meal. You must also make sure to drink plenty of water whilst taking the supplement.

A monthly subscription of the supplement currently costs £16, instead of the usual £18; equivalent to around 57p a day. If you would prefer to try the fibre capsules first, you can purchase a one month’s supply for £18.
