Families have been paying tribute to the victims of the Texas shooting, after the horrific incident that took place on Tuesday.

Yesterday, an 18-year-old man entered an elementary school in Uvalde and took the lives of approximately 19 students and two teachers.

The accused shooter, Salvador Ramos, entered Robb Elementary School at around 11.30am before opening fire.

Police say the suspect was armed with a handgun, and possibly a semi-automatic rifle. He was later shot and killed by law enforcement.

According to a GoFundMe created to help victims’ families, 10-year-old Xavier López was among the students killed in the shooting.

His cousin, Stephanie Harris, said: "It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we have to create this fundraiser for our cousin Felicia Martinez and Abel Lopez.

"The Medina family is asking for your help at this time both monetarily, for funeral expenses, as well as prayers for her and her family at this time. Her son was tragically taken along with so many other precious angels today in Uvalde, but we as family, know he is now with his Grandpa Benny in the Kingdom of Heaven.

"Any bit helps and if you can't help at this time, please lift him and all the parents coping this tragedy and loss, up in prayers tonight. If you cannot contribute at this time a share is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless our children.”

Another family member shared photos of their loved one on Facebook, adding: "Our last weekend together... love you and miss you already."

Meanwhile another family member described her younger cousin as now "flying with the angels above".

And a third devastated relative wrote on Facebook: "My heart is shatter to pieces. I love you baby girl I will never stop thinking of you!"

Amerie Jo Garza, 10, has also been confirmed to have died in the shooting. Her father told ABC News: “Thank you everyone for the prayers and help trying to find my baby.

“She’s been found. My little love is now flying high with the angels above. Please don’t take a second for granted. Hug your family. Tell them you love them. I love you Amerie jo. Watch over your baby brother for me.”

Fourth-grade teacher Eva Mireles, 44, was also killed in the tragic incident. She has been remembered as a loving mother and wife.

“She was adventurous. I would definitely say those wonderful things about her. She is definitely going to be very missed,” said relative Amber Ybarra.

A second teacher was also killed, named by friends and family as Irma Garcia, a mum of four.

Her nephew wrote: "My tia did not make it, she sacrificed herself protecting the kids in her classroom, i beg of you to keep my family including all of her family in y’all’s prayers, IRMA GARCIA IS HER NAME and she died a HERO.

"She was loved by many and will truly be missed."

In a speech from the White House on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden said: "How many scores of little children who witnessed what happened - see their friends die, as if they're in a battlefield, for God's sake.

"They'll live with it the rest of their lives."

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all the Uvalde victims.
