Critics of the Royal family have slammed William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, for attending the 2025 Wimbledon Men’s Singles with their two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

On July 13, 23-year-old Jannik Sinner reigned victorious in SW19, picking up his first Wimbledon Championships title with a comfortable 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, 22.

The Grand Slam final was played at Centre Court, where William and Kate, both 43, watched on from the Royal Box with children George, 11, and Charlotte, 10. Their youngest son, seven-year-old Prince Louis, was not present.

The day before the Men’s Singles final, Kate arrived at Wimbledon and watched Polish icon Iga Świątek, 24, crush her 23-year-old American opponent Amanda Anisimova with the first double bagel since Dorothea Lambert Chambers’ in 1911.

Before handing over the Venus Rosewater dish to the 2025 Wimbledon Women’s champion, Kate watched on from the Royal Box with tennis veteran Billy Jean King.

The exclusive Centre Court seating area also contained famous faces like model Cara Delevingne, One Day actress Ambika Mod and Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins.

William, George and Charlotte were notably missing from the Women’s event - a move which some Redditors have slammed as ‘sexist.’

One social media commenter wrote: “It’s gross to me that they always bring the kids to the men’s final but not the women’s the day before.”

“You'd think it would be nice to have Charlotte there for the women's final,” another responded.

“Is she taking tennis lessons? Perhaps someday she will follow her mother as President and patron and hand out the trophies.”

Despite not appearing at the Women’s Wimbledon finals, William did show his support for English women’s sports earlier this month when he travelled to Switzerland.

On July 9, the future King of England was spotted celebrating the England Lionesses’ 4-0 victory over group rivals the Netherlands in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

The Zurich-based match saw Chelsea’s Lauren James put a brace past Dutch and Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar, with Bayern Munich’s Georgia Stanway and Manchester United icon Ella Toone also adding to the tally.

William, who is the patron of the Football Association, also joined Sarina Wiegman’s squad during tournament preparations on June 30 at St. George’s Park.

At the training ground, he spoke with several players before handing out official Nike-sponsored jerseys to the likes of Lucy Bronze, Jess Carter, and Hannah Hampton.

People also reported that the Prince took part in a Made for This Game session with junior girls’ football teams.

He was joined by former England Lionesses Rachel Brown-Finnis and Kerry Davis as they cheered on the next generation.
