The Wales' three children were handed an almighty task this week.

Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old Prince Louis don't carry out official 'working royal' duties in the way adult royals do, but each child has already had a few standout moments and gradually increasing responsibilities.

These have mostly included attending ceremonial, charitable or symbolic soirees with either their mother, Kate Middleton, or father, Prince William.

As future King, George has had the most serious and 'training for monarchy' type appearances. This included attending VE Day 80th anniversary events last year, where he met veterans and drank tea with senior royals.

But he's also had some fun ones, like witnessing the nail-biting EUROs final with dad William, 43, the year prior.

Charlotte, meanwhile, famously watched the Wimbledon men's finals with her mother last year, which included sitting in the Royal Box and greeting players. She's also been hailed for helping manage her brothers during high-profile outings, especially chaos-causing Louis.

The Wales' youngest is the least formally involved, but probably the most publicly famous, largely due to his comic reactions during royal events.

While the trio do not hold patronages or constitutional duties, they were handed some serious responsibilities this week.

In a sweet new social media post, it was revealed that George, Charlotte and Louis had been given the job of naming a baby kangaroo that recently arrived at the Irwin family's Australia Zoo.

Robert Irwin, conservationist and TV star, announced in a heartwarming video that the children named the facility’s newest eastern grey joey, 'Cwtch'.

Pronounced 'kutch' (as in, rhymes with butch), the world is Welsh for cuddle, or hug - a nod to their parents' titles as the Prince and Princess of Wales.

"G'day, it's Robert Irwin here with a couple of my mates," the 22-year-old zookeeper smiles in the clip. "This is, of course, the icon of Australia, the kangaroo - and I'm very proud to announce that my friends, the Wales family, helped us to name our beautiful new joey.

"Our new joey's name is 'Cwtch', which is Welsh for cuddle - the absolute perfect name for a joey kangaroo, because at this age, they love a cuddle, and they spend most of their time inside that pouch with their mum.

Irwin then added: "I want to say a particular thank you to Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte for your help in finding this little one a brilliant name. Thank you for your support with our wildlife conservation efforts."

Unsurprisingly, the name has been warmly welcomed by a number of royal fans, several of whom praised the Wales' kids' decision on social media.

"That name is so wonderful," one Instagram user gushed.

Another added: "The collab I never knew I needed - welcome, Cwtch!"
