Hunter Biden says he is 'a little bit gay' in an unexpected admission
Hunter Biden has surprised both critics and his supporters with an incredibly candid podcast appearance, after host Luke Beasley turned the conversation towards his sexuality.
Beasley began the discussion by making an announcement of his own on his self-titled podcast, telling Biden: “Let’s get serious. I am gay.”
Biden, 56, joked that he was surprised by the revelation, replying: “Really? Wow. Seriously. I’m so amazed you’re gay.”
Beasley then asked Hunter, the son of former US president Joe Biden, a surprisingly direct question in return: “Are you gay?”

“Only a little bit,” replied Biden, before the host then asked whether Hunter considered himself more or less than 50 percent gay.
Biden decided to give an unusually precise answer of “48.6”, according to Entertainment Weekly, before the pair continued to joke about his apparently 'hypothetical' attraction to men.

Beasley went on to ask Hunter whether he would be his type if he were gay.
Biden replied: “No, a little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay.”
The conversation then took another turn when Beasley showed Biden an AI-generated image depicting the pair together.
Biden reacted: “Oh Jesus Christ, I don’t know. I just... it all is coming back to me.”
He made a reference to his well-documented history of substance abuse, joking that he must have been ‘in a stupor at that point’
Biden has previously spoken openly about his struggles with addiction and has said he became sober in 2019.
The subject returned later in the interview, with Biden once again discussing what he called ‘the gay question’, reconsidering his original figure, saying: “Maybe I take back 48.5.”
Biden then joked: “More like 47 after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”
However, the revised figure did not last long.
Towards the end of the conversation, Biden returned to the subject and announced: “I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay.”
Hunter Biden's personal life
The comments have attracted attention because of Biden's public personal history.
He has been married twice, first to Kathleen Buhle in 1993, with the couple ultimately divorcing in 2017.
They have three daughters together.
One of his daughter's, Naomi, opened up about her dad in an X post in 2024: “The pain he has endured would be enough to make a lesser man give up on life all together,” she wrote.
“But despite the best efforts of cruel few to destroy a private man, he is sober, happy, and as at peace as ever today because as long as his family needs him, he has not lost his purpose.”
Biden then married Melissa Cohen in 2019, after a whirlwind romance, and they share one son together.
The podcast appearance is part of a period in which Hunter has become increasingly willing to discuss his personal experiences publicly, including his addiction and his family life.
Biden has also been posting more frequently on social media, taking shots at Donald Trump, and he hasn’t held back with any of his opinions.
He has also spoken about his father, former President Joe Biden, including the 82-year-old's health following his diagnosis with prostate cancer.
For now, however, it was Biden’s unexpected comments about his sexuality that attracted the greatest attention from the interview.
And, after briefly dropping his self-described ‘gaydom’ to 47 per cent, he made sure listeners knew that it had climbed once again to 48.5 per cent.
