Royal Family criticised for ‘creepy’ reaction to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry mockery video

People have rushed to social media to call out Buckingham Palace for its response to Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo's 'Baby Mama' dance

The Royal Family is being criticised for its 'creepy' response to a clip posted by Jamie Laing and his wife, Sophie Habboo, which was inspired by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's viral labour dance video.

In case you're not in the loop, Meghan - who has unfortunately long-since faced the unrelenting wrath of royal fans and tabloid press - made headlines for the sweet clip which she shared to her millions of followers on Instagram earlier this month (4 June).

The video in question saw herself and Harry playfully dancing around the delivery room just before Princess Lilibet's birth in 2021 - something you'd think absolutely no one would have an issue with.

However, it sparked a whole bunch of criticism from internet trolls labelling the light-hearted moment as 'cringe' as well as alleged concern over the 'safety' of Lilibet and a whole a bunch of conspiracy theories.

The latest update in the saga saw parents-to-be Jamie and Sophie (famed for their appearance on the much-loved E4 drama series Made In Chelsea, and who announced their own first pregnancy earlier this month) take to Instagram earlier this week to recreate the clip.

Some reckoned that the couple, who were dancing to the notorious 'Baby Mama' song during a visit to Buckingham Palace, were poking fun at the Sussexes.

As well as dancing on the building's Grand Staircase - which was built for Queen Victoria - the MIC duo also wiggled about on the lavish red-carpet.

Knowing they were breaking the rules, Jamie captioned the social media video: "They said we couldn't film in Buckingham Palace."

Amidst the praise from fans for the 'hilarious' video, the Royal Family's official Instagram account lightheartedly also commented their response.

It read 'We see you' on the pair's video, alongside a side-eye emoji and a wink.

Likewise, the King's Trust's certified account lightheartedly wrote under the clip 'All of our attendees are very well behaved' with a matching side-eye emoji, which was followed by a laughing face.

However, it would appear as if the tide has changed as people are now defending Meghan for the bizarre borage of hate she received for the clip when the likes of Jamie and Sophie were widely praised for their rendition of the trend - despite the fact they broke a major royal rule which was, as we say, filming in Buckingham Palace.

They also pointed out the reluctance of the official royal accounts to defend Meghan amidst the avalanche of online hate when she posted her video following the Palace's jokey comment under Jamie and Sophie's clip.

One critic hit out: "You also had your pap camera out with a flash. Think of what the flash has done to those priceless paintings."

"Where's the disrespectful outrage?? The tacky outrage? The should keep this private outrage? Oh no that's ONLY for H&M of course," pointed out a second.

A third echoed: "So, based on the comments, you're all fine if these two do it, but Meghan isn't allowed..."

"I have to say its extremely creepy that the official royal family account, which usually doesn't make comments on other people's posts, chose only this video to enthusiastically comment on," outlined another. "It's like they have nothing on their minds other than Meghan."
