After being subjected to major backlash for sharing a video of her and Prince Harry's 'labour dance' earlier this month, the Duchess of Sussex has responded to critics.

Meghan shared the sweet clip on 4 June as a tribute to her daughter, Princess Lilibet, for her fourth birthday. In it, Meghan and Harry, 40, could be seen dancing and twerking around the delivery room just before the youngster's birth.

"Four years ago today, this also happened," she described the video.

"Both of our children were a week past their due dates…so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work - there was only one thing left to do!"

Whilst many praised the former Suits actress for refusing to reign in her personality for the sake of social media, others launched criticism in her direction, branding the couple 'cringe'.

"Keep some private moments…private!" one hit out.

Another wrote online: "Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are a massive embarrassment to the Royal Family. Simply incredible that they still retain their royal titles."

As we say, the 43-year-old has since addressed the criticism she received for 'oversharing' with said video.

During a preview for an episode of the Aspire podcast - upon which Meghan features as a guest - she can be seen discussing the controversial clip with host Emma Grede.

"You have to be authentic," the As Ever founder began. "Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?"

Revealing that she had, Grede claimed she 'did a little cheer' for Meghan after discovering it had gone viral.

The presenter gushed: "Like, I wanna see that happiness and that honesty and that 'I don’t give a f**k' kind of thing'."

Meghan then felt compelled to remind a number of her misunderstood critics that the clip had been filmed in 2021, and wasn't as recent as many seemingly believed.

"By the way, that wasn’t yesterday," she continued. "That was four years ago.

"So it’s also a really great reminder that, with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life. A real, authentic, fun life that’s happening behind the scenes."

The mother-of-two went on to claim she's 'grateful' that 'being back on social' she's able to share her content 'on [her] own terms', and will continue to turn a blind eye to trolls in the future.

Following the previous backlash, a midwife also defended Meghan for both the sweet video and the dancing in general, insisting that such movement is actually advised for women in labour.

"I'm a midwife - this is not cringe at all," X user @mdwfmom wrote. "It's excellent to progress labour for multiple reasons."

And after one of Meghan's critics asked in the comments, 'Why isn't the IV in her arm connected to the bag?, the healthcare worker then went on to explain: "It's called a saline lock. Very common.

"She doesn't need fluids running because she's in early labour and doesn't have an epidural."

After another troll alleged, 'Anyone with early labour won't be dancing like this', the midwife hit back again: "Clearly you know nothing about early labour. Or this may even be before an induction for all we know.

"Yes, I have seen many women do this. It's called 'labour dance'."
