A body language expert has revealed the 'strange reason' behind Melania Trump’s inauguration outfit choice.

It was Donald Trump's inauguration yesterday (20 January) and the world watched on as he was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

All eyes, however, were on First Lady Melania given her eye-catching outfit choice she donned for the special occasion.

Melania wore monochrome outfit complete with a seriously wide-brimmed hat that really caught the attention of people online.

The hat in question was so big that it even got in the way of Trump giving her a kiss, forcing him to do an air kiss instead.

People have since rushed to social media convinced they'd worked out the 'real reason' behind the statement headwear but now, a body language expert has shared his expertise on the situation.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Darren Stanton, told Tyla: "Melania has chosen a very statement look, with the big fedora, perhaps to hide her face if she wants to.

"There’s little to no emotion from the pair, no holding hands, it almost looks like quite a solemn occasion, if we were to judge by their facial expressions."

Darren went on to claim that there was 'no eye contact, no smiles [and] no emotion' between Melania and Trump, adding: "We know from past analysis that Melania doesn’t really like being in the spotlight, and she prefers to stay out of the way.

"She gives off the sense she doesn't want to be there, with no micro-expressions of happiness from Melania, it was quite a strange entrance."

The expert also declared it was a 'strange choice' for the first lady to wear navy blue, 'considering blue signifies the Democrats'.

"Melania’s outfit has similar vibes to something we might see Meghan Markle wear," Darren said, noting: "The fact it’s not red or white, she’s branching out and striking out with a bold outfit."

And as for the hat?

Well, according to the expert, the choice to wear a big white-brimmed hat means she is able to cover her eyes and face as he explains: "We all saw in his last inauguration, she scowled when his back was turned.

"Now, she’s got this hat to protect her face as much as she can from the glare of the press. It's quite a strategic outfit."

He added: "There’s not masses to see in this short walk, but the colour choice is significant. The very smart attire with the skirt suit signals her effectively saying, 'I mean business'."

Tyla has reached out to The Office of Donald Trump for comment.
