Donald Trump has left many people online worried with his recent speech in Davos, where he revealed something chilling.
On Wednesday 21 January, Trump delivered a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, amid the controversy surrounding his supposed takeover of Greenland. The US president shared that he ‘got great reviews’ for what he intended to say, but people on social media seem to disagree with whoever approved it.
At the forum, many were left horrified when he turned the topic to dictatorship, and even seemed to claim to to be one.
“Usually they say, ‘He’s a horrible dictator-type person,’ I’m a dictator,” Trump said. “But sometimes you need a dictator. But they didn’t say that in this case.”

In addition to the concerns of such comments, it seems the US leader also contradicted himself, as he previously said in 2023 that he would only be a dictator on day one, and that ‘after that, I’m not a dictator’, per Yahoo! News.

On X, some were left flabbergasted that he was able to say such things in front of global leaders. Others were simply angry.
One person said: “This is exactly the stuff people warned about and somehow it still gets brushed off.”
Another wrote: “He’s a rambling madman, unfortunately he is surrounded by sycophants.”
The speech, which also included a renewed push against Denmark’s hold on Greenland, comes right off the back of his wish to annex the tiny country. Following a 'very productive meeting' with NATO secretary general Mark Rutte on the fringes of the World Economic Forum, Trump suggested he’s close to some sort of deal.
Speaking to CNBC at Davos, he announced: "We have a concept of a deal. I think it’s going to be a very good deal for the United States, also for them.
"It’s a little bit complex, but we’ll explain it down the line. But the Secretary General of NATO, and I and some other people were talking."
On Truth Social, he explained further, writing: “We have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations.
"Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st."
