Donald Trump has issued a damning statement in response to a controversial speech made this week by his presidential predecessor Joe Biden.

The 82-year-old Democrat - who departed from the White House in January following his four-year term - appeared at the Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD) conference in Chicago on Tuesday (15 April).

His scheduled speech marked the first made since Republican leader Trump took power of the Oval Office.

Despite the event being arranged to determine Biden's views on Social Security, the 46th president subsequently found himself in hot water whilst attempting to kick things off with an anecdote relating to his childhood.

Asked how he came to become involved with politics and activism, the father-of-four recalled moving from Scranton, Pennsylvania to Wilmington, Delaware, admitting that, beforehand, he'd 'never seen hardly any Black people'.

Biden then went on to use an outdated term to describe the Black residents of his new home town, recalling: "I was only going in fourth grade, and I remember seeing kids going by, at the time called 'coloured kids,' on a bus go by — they never turned right to go to Claymont High School."

Despite the politician claiming that the racial segregation he witnessed at public school 'sparked' his 'sense of outrage as a kid', Biden has since come under fire for the terminology he used to describe African-American children.

Despite the backlash that his predecessor's speech prompted, Donald Trump has seemingly brushed over the blunder in his official response.

Taking to his own social media platform Truth Social, the 78-year-old Republican continued to slam Biden for a number of other reasons.

Trump began: "Sleepy Joe Biden, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, has allowed millions and millions of Criminals, many of them murderers, drug dealers, and people released from prisons and mental institutions from all around the world, to enter our Country through it’s very dangerous and ill conceived Open Border."

He then went on to issue a bizarre promise, adding: "Sorry, but it’s my job to get these killers and thugs out of here. THAT’S WHAT I GOT ELECTED TO DO."

Trump followed this up with his famous campaign slogan: "MAGA!" ('Make American Great Again').

It is likely that the father-of-five was somewhat offended by the criticism that Biden directed in his direction during another point in the speech, whereby Trump's welfare policies were dragged into question.

Biden accused the right-wing administration of having 'taken a hatchet' to the social security system, led by Trump and his Department of Government Efficiency co-lead Elon Musk.

The latter tech boss has been given the responsibility of cutting federal costs, accusing former White House staff of having been responsible for spending $1.6 trillion in benefits a year.

Though Biden opted not to name the pair explicitly, he hit out: "In fewer than 100 days, this new administration has done so much damage and so much destruction. It's kind of breath-taking."

Accusing Trump's team of making cuts in other departments, Biden described social security as a 'sacred promise', adding: "We know just how much social security matters to people's lives."
