A mesmerising astrological phenomenon kicked off last night, leaving viewers all over the world dazzled by vibrant rays of light dashed across the evening sky.

Now - as it the case with many cosmological events - many zodiac believers have since been Googling how the yearly 'Orionid meteor shower' might affect them based on their individual star sign.

And - as it turns out - this comets' falling fragments don't just simply serve as a pretty sight, but they actually have a pretty important meaning to several signs.

What is the 'Orionid meteor shower'?

First things first - this specific type of space event describes the partial fragmentation Comet 1P, otherwise known as Halley's Comet.

Meteors are chunks of rock that have broken off outside of our atmosphere which leave a path of tiny debris.

Only when the comet gets close to earth - once every 75-75 years between October and November - do we get to witness an annual falling of these fragments, after the debris enters our atmosphere.

Travelling at 41 miles per second, these pieces are vaporised into even smaller pieces, creating streaks of breathtakingly beautiful light through the air.

And as well as scientists predicting this week's event to be quite the spectacle visual-wise, die-hard horoscope readers have been keen to learn how the meteor shower might affect them.

And according to celebrity astrologer Inbaal Honigman, who spoke to Tyla on behalf of Slingo, some star-sign believers have very good reason to wonder as such.

"A meteor shower is also known as shooting stars," she said. "And has always been seen as a sign of good luck and wishes coming true.

"Any star sign can wish upon a star, but this period of the meteor shower holds special blessings for a few of the signs."

So if you are any of the these star signs, here's how it could affect you.

Gemini

Honigman began by explaining that the constellation Orion spans 20 degrees of the Zodiac 'in the Sign of Gemini'.

"At the moment, Geminis are having a bit of a hard time, because Jupiter, planet of wealth, is retrograde in their sign, so they could use some good news," she continued.

"This Jupiter issue means that Geminis aren't feeling lucky in work spaces and creative projects."

Honigman went on to explain that, the ongoing shower 'wishes' are likely to include 'more socialising', as well as 'more support from those around them' and 'positive reinforcements from parents and bosses'.

Libra and Scorpio

With the Orionid meteor shower being active between 2 October and 7 November this year - peaking on the 21 and 22nd - our astrologist says the 'full event is equally divided between Libra and Scorpio season'.

"This means both signs will receive some glittery joy from those shooting stars which aren't stars at all," Honigman went on.

"The meatier part of the shower takes place just as Libra season ends and Scorpio season begins. The influence on both signs is the same - although they could be wishing for different things."

The expert continued: "Upon sighting a shooting star, Librans go for world peace immediately. Scorpio may be a little more specific, and make a wish for a new job or a holiday."
