Flight attendant 'refused to let plane take off until passengers' cleaned up mess in the aisle

They demanded the culprit clean up their mess

A flight attendant reportedly refused to let a plane take off after passengers left a huge mess on the aisle floor - demanding they clean it up before they took to the skies.

You can watch what went down in the vid below:

The Southwest Airlines flight earlier this month had rice strewn across the floor down the middle of the aisle of the aircraft.

One passenger, Jennifer Schaper, shared images and news of what had happened on social media claiming her 'travels seem to involve unintentional comedy'.

She tweeted: "Just boarded the plane and somebody spilled food.

"The flight attendant screamed 'who spilled rice?' and is walking up and down the aisles.

"They are refusing to leave the gate until someone cleans the rice."

The sage continued in a thread with the next tweet updating her followers on #RiceGate and added: “The people in my row and I now have the giggles and she’s looking at us suspiciously.”

A follow-up tweet revealed that the carbs were still on the cabin floor and the plane was still grounded: “Update: they are still refusing to leave until the rice has been cleaned. They are sending out for a broom. #RiceGate”

During a video posted by Jennifer, the airline employee can be heard apologising for the delay and saying: “I don’t think you wanna walk through it.” She adds that the mess needs to be taken care of before the flight is able to leave.

She then notes a shift in mood: “Rice is getting cleaned but she is MAD. She has let us all know that we were not raised right and she is disappointed in all of us."

But even when the mess was swept up there was yet another delay to what Jennifer's fellow passengers had nicknamed 'the Voyage of the Damned'.

Even after the mess was cleared - the drama continued.

She explained: “Another loud angry woman went to the bathroom during #RiceGate and we still can’t take off because she is not at her seat."

The final instalment reveals that the airline took no more risks around further spillages: “Update: there were a few bumps so they didn’t give us beverage service. I think it was punishment. #RiceGate @SouthwestAir.”

Southwest Airlines tweeted an apology for the lack of refreshments onboard but explained that this was down to turbulence rather than being a consequence:

They said: "We're sorry that our crew was unable to provide onboard refreshments due to bumpy travel conditions. Safety is always our number one priority, but we hope that we can make it up to you next time! Thank you for bearing there with us, Jennifer. -Brenna"

Many on social media sided with the flight attendant with one saying: "Geez, can’t SOMEONE take five seconds and scoop it up? The whole plane is lazy."

While another disagreed: "Here’s a thought- maybe if airlines didn’t serve crap and expensive food people wouldn't bring their own!"

LADbible Group has contacted Southwest Airlines for a comment.

This rice-based flight drama comes after a pregnant woman was force to clear up her toddler's spilled snack 'on her hands and knees' on a United Airlines flight last week.
