Drake Bell's wife Janet Von Schmeling files for divorce just days after he was reported missing

Drake Bell's wife Janet Von Schmeling files for divorce just days after he was reported missing

The star was reported missing last week but has since been found safe and well

Drake Bell’s wife Janet Von Schmeling has filed for divorce just days after the former child star returned home after being reported missing.

According to legal documents, Janet has said she and her 36-year-old husband initially separated in September last year after four years of marriage.

The 28-year-old cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ between the pair as the cause of their split, TMZ reports.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, share one-year-old son Wyatt Bell, whom Janet is requesting primary legal and physical custody of, with visitation rights to Drake as part of any divorce agreement. She is also seeking spousal support.

The news comes just days after a search was launched for Drake after his family were unable to get in touch with him.

An alert was issued for the former Nickelodeon star, with authorities confirming he was 'missing and endangered' in Florida.

The alert, which was posted to Facebook, read: "Officers are looking for Jared Bell.

"He should be travelling in a 2022 grey BMW."

Before finally being found, Bell's last known location was 'potentially the area of Mainland High School' at 9pm EST.

In a follow-up comment, the police department added: "For those asking, this is a legitimate post from the Daytona Beach Police Department. If you have any information, please contact Detective Jayson Wallace."

Fortunately, Drake was found safe and well a short time later, with The Daytona Beach Police Department saying: "At this time, we can confirm law enforcement officials are in contact and Mr Bell is safe."

The actor has since downplayed the incident - in a post on Twitter, he wrote: “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?" alongside a crying laughing emoji.

Drake has had a number of run-ins with the law in recent years, having just completed his probation over an alleged child-endangerment case that he pleaded guilty to.

Speaking after he gave his plea, Drake said: “Just want to say today I accept this plea because my conduct was wrong."

He added: “I have taken this matter very, very seriously. I just want to apologise to her and anyone else who may have been affected by my actions.”

Months later, Drake claimed: “I responded to a fan, whose age I didn't know, yet when I became aware of their age, all conversation and communication stopped.

“This individual continued to come to shows and pay for meet and greets, all while I was unaware that this was the same person I was communicating with online, and that's what I plead guilty to.

“It was reckless and irresponsible text messages. I want to make clear there were no sexual images, nothing physical between me and this individual.”
