While many of us try to incorporate tried and tested life-hacks into our routine when we can - it's clear that one shopper didn't quite hit the nail on the head with one.

Instead of saving some time in faffing for change, this woman ended up causing far more problems than she had to begin with.

The internet is suffering from some severe second-hand embarrassment, dubbing the fail as 'so embarrassing'.

Hailing from Florida, Samm Pinkoff thought she'd have a go at recreating a trend which sees people use the head of a key to unlock supermarket trolleys rather than a coin.

However, it's evident that Samm clearly didn't get the memo as she seemed to totally botch the hack involving an Aldi trolley.

Instead of smoothly using the round part of a key to mimic the shape of a quarter, Samm stuck the blade of the key into the coin slot.

To no one's surprise, maybe except Samm's, her key got well and truly jammed.

Deciding to share her shame to her 21.6k followers, the short clip of cringe has since amassed a staggering 5.2 million views.

In the TikTok video, you can hear Samm saying: "I saw this on TikTok about Aldi and now my key is f**king stuck."

The TikTok was captioned: "They lied. I got my key stuck and had to tell [an] Aldi employee I saw a TikTok and wanted to try it lol.

"Don’t try it," she warned other curious life-hackers.

With over 230k likes and thousands upon thousands of comments - it's clear that the internet were eager to share their reactions.

Sharing the second-hand embarrassment, one TikTok user dubbed the whole fiasco 'so embarrassing'.

Another was more concerned about whether or not she got her key back out: "Did you get the key out eventually?"

Seeing the funny side to the whole ordeal, a third wrote: "That Is hilarious! Thank you for the laugh."

Others opted to share advice on where she went wrong, with one TikTok user commenting: "You are supposed to use the other end. The round end..."

"You just didn’t do it correctly," another, more experienced, life-hacker wrote.

While another added: "You used the wrong end of the key. How is the pointy part close to a coin?"

Samm warned others to not try the hack.

But some criticised Samm for potentially risking her house-key over saving a quarter.

Echoing many comments, one person asked: "It’s a damn quarter why would you use your house key?"

Taking to TikTok again, Samm posted a follow-up explaining exactly why she jeopardised losing her house key over just 25 cents.

She explained: "I didn’t have quarter on me and i was [...] in a rush so I was like 'oh lemme try this before I go to my car to get one.'"

Needless to say, she'll definitely think twice before trying out another life hack...
