After a group of 'sexperts' last week revealed how long men tend to 'last in the bedroom', we couldn't help but wonder whether this lived up to the expectations of their female partners.

Thankfully, another team of researchers was on hand to suss what women perceive as the ideal amount of time to spend between the sheets, so we're able to compare the two.

As summarised by Times of India, a study was recently conducted amongst 4000 sexually active men and women living in either the US or the UK, all of whom were aged between 18 and 35.

The group were asked just two tell-all questions. Firstly, they were asked how long they and their partner tend to have sex for, and secondly, how long they'd like their intercourse to last, in an ideal world.

The results differed slightly across both genders - and it wouldn't have taken a prophet to predict that a huge proportion of women interviewed would admit to hoping for a little more in the latter category.

Many agreed that a duration of 25 minutes and 51 seconds would be 'ideal', claiming this length of time would likely leave them with both the knowledge they'd enjoyed 'good sex' and the physical satisfaction they desire most of all.

Interestingly, the majority of men seemed on board with this assertion, claiming they'd be pleased if their throes of passion lasted an equally reasonable 25 minutes and 43 seconds.

When it came to how long intimacy usually lasted, however, many women claimed their partners tend to last somewhere between 11 and 14 minutes.

This figure was somewhat supported by Lovehoney's on-hand sex and relationship experts last week, who recently conducted a study of their own into how long men are usually able to 'keep it up' depending on their age.

For those aged 18-24, the average duration was ruled at 16 minutes and 14 seconds.

Despite complaints from women involved in the research previously mentioned, Lovehoney's experts found that stamina tended to start building after 24 and lasted until age 35, with the average supposedly being 18 minutes and 29 seconds.

Sexual health nurse Sarah Mulindwa told Metro of this: "Research shows that session length tends to peak in the late 20s to early 30s and gradually shortens as men get older."

This assertion was supported by the study, with experts finding that duration tends to reduce to 17 minutes for those aged between 34 and 44.

Such is the case once again in men aged between 45 and 55, who reportedly last 14 minutes and 14 seconds on average.

In those between 55 and 64, the average drips again to around 11 minutes and 3 seconds.

And for the over 65s, intimacy tends to last around 8 minutes and 15 seconds.
