If your interest in the lives of Mormon folks has spiked since watching Hulu’s new reality TV show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, chances are you’ll enjoy finding out about ‘soaking’.
Before the Mormon women reality show, TikTok played a huge part in sharing first-hand insights into the sexual habits of some Mormons.
And before you say that one of the main points of the Mormon faith is to avoid pre-marital intercourse, you’ll soon discover that there appears to be some loopholes for Mormon teens and unmarried people - and soaking is one of them.
Seemingly popular among Mormon youths, soaking is essentially penetrative sex without any movement.

Forget about the 'furious jumping' that Poor Things' Bella Baxter loved so much, and none of the hip thrusting that usually makes the experience worthwhile.
So basically, the man inserts his penis into the women's vagina and both then lay there, completely still, letting it 'soak'.
But there's more.
It seems that some Mormon teens have found another way to add to their soaking session by inviting a third party to jump on the bed so to mimic the movements of actual sex, without them having to do anything.
It's called 'jump humping' and, as wild as this unusual threesome sounds, one has to consider that pre-marital sex is prohibited by the Mormon religion.
"The consequences are that you won't be able to experience the ideal spiritual afterlife,” SBS Editor and ex-Mormon Mark Mariano told ABC. “And so I think there's this real element of shame and fear of consequence, that comes with breaking the rules.”
Mariano said that Mormons are looking for ways to experience sex in a 'god-friendly' manner, though expressed some doubts as to the actual popularity of soaking.
"That's why Mormon couples are doing all they can finding all these loopholes, to just still experience sex and in a certain way that's still deemed 'god friendly', or that is still deemed religion and Mormon friendly," he said. "But I wish it wasn't that way. I wish that wasn't the case. And I just wished more couples could explore their sexuality in more fruitful ways."
Mariano continued: "I obviously don't want to speak on behalf of the whole religion, but I'm assuming that there is a very big vast difference between Australian Mormonism and American Mormonism in the sense that Mormonism began in America.
"And so in its travels, I'm sure different things were adopted and different things were tweaked along the way."
