If self-care is one of your 2024 resolutions, then boy, do we have some neat tips for you to feel your best self every single day.

Whether you're keen to implement a simple five-step skincare routine to help tackle wrinkles, or an overnight heatless hair hack to guarantee a bouncy blow-out in time for work the next morning - look no further.

Speaking of hair health, a beauty expert has this week opened up on a single change you can make to your sleeping routine to create stronger strands and an unparalleled shine.

Taylor Rose - an American licensed trichologist (a specialist focussing on the head and the scalp) - has even gone as far as to warn her devoted followers that skipping this vital pre-sleep beauty step could reverse the progress your hair has made.

"Are you damaging your hair while sleeping?" she asked her social media fans in a new video posted to TikTok this week.

"You could be causing a ton of accidental damage to your hair during sleep."

The hair expert warned her followers to sleep in a hair bonnet to guarantee healthy locks.

Taylor - who goes by name username @thehealthyhur on the video-sharing app - went on advise: "Here is how you should wear your hair for ultimate protection, from a certified trichologist."

It turns out, all that we should we implementing into our getting-ready-for-bed ritual is popping a hair bonnet onto our heads.

"The best option overall is to wear a satin bonnet to bed with your hair loose within the bonnet," Taylor explained.

Apparently, the bonnets can help eradicate the likes of traction of the scalp, as well as alopecia and damage caused by friction.

But if you can't get access to this cap or don't reckon you'd be able to fall asleep with a bonnet on your head, she has provided an alternative technique to prevent breakage.

"If you aren't into the bonnet look, opt for a satin pillowcase and wear your hair in a loose braid secured with a satin scrunchie," she told her viewers.

"If you have short hair, leaving your hair down is fine if you have a satin pillowcase.

"If you are for some reason unable to use a satin pillowcase or bonnet, a loose braid or bun secured with a silk scrunchie is your best option," Taylor added.

Since then, a flood of TikTok users have taken to the comments of her now-viral video to heap praise onto the hair expert, revealing that her recommended techniques have already started improving the quality of their hair.
