A mum had the PERFECT hack for drying washing without a tumble dryer – perfect for these in-between months where we’re still waiting for the warmer weather to arrive.

Yep, winter may be on its way out as those lighter evenings creep closer, but we’re still a long way off those dreamy, sunny days that are ideal for a line-dry.

Tumble dryers may seem like a speedy alternative to getting clothes dry, but they’re not exactly the most economical solution – nor is cranking up the heating.

But one genius mum has been praised for her clothes-drying hack that involves a cheap, everyday product that you’d probably never thought of using.

Unfortunately, if you don’t have an outdoor space it won’t work, but for those with some sort of balcony or garden, you’re in luck.

Taking to Facebook group ‘Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK', the woman shared a snap of a pop-up greenhouse filled with her family’s washing.

She wrote in the post: "Thought I would share my clothes drying hack.

"Not for everyone but works for us. A £46 plastic greenhouse. We don't have room for large airers indoors and also not ideal to have wet washing around due to having asthmatic children.

The mum doesn't need a tumble dryer for this.

"We only have storage heaters so can't dry clothes on them either.

"Come the spring I will use the greenhouse for its proper purpose and grow plants with my children."

The post received thousands of likes, as well as plenty of comments from fellow parents who absolutely love the money and space saving idea.

One commenter wrote: "This is a fantastic idea! I don't have a garden, but I do have an enclosed balcony that I dry washing on, usually with the aid of a dehumidifier.

"If I get a smaller greenhouse I can pop it over the airer and dehumidifier and it should dry quicker too, saving more on the cost of the dehumidifier.

"I'm super happy you posted as it's not something I'd have thought of."

Others shared similar hacks, including this person who said: "I dry mine in a gazebo every year."

People praised the idea.

If you want to give it a go yourself, there are plenty of plastic greenhouses available to buy online, with prices starting from just £20.

If you’d prefer to use your tumble dryer, however, you might want to try this hack from a woman who said it could save your use by up to 30 percent.

Aussie based TikToker - @refinedliving - decided to share the top tip on her page, saying: "Wet clothes and need them to dry faster? Simply add a dry towel for the first 15 minutes!"

The content creator then filmed herself throwing her laundry into her tumble dryer before adding in a towel on top and setting the machine timer to 15 minutes.

When time was up, she opened up the dryer door, pulled out the towel and explained: "This speeds it up over 30 percent."

It makes sense - a towel is built to absorb moisture, so chucking a dry one in with your freshly washed clothes will soak up any dampness.

That'll lead to a quicker overall drying time, instantly saving money on your energy bills, and getting your favourite trousers dry in record time.

Genius.
