American Woman's Cup Of Tea Is Branded 'Painful To Watch' By Brits

We're screaming.

Making a cup of tea can be a pretty divisive topic, from how much milk, to how many sugars and crucially, how long you let the tea brew for.

But collectively, most Brits can agree that a cup of tea should be made using a kettle, not a microwave.

Shudder.

Alex Murphy, 34, from London, filmed herself making her boyfriend Paul Klein, 30, a cup of tea - but her method has left Brits horrified.

In the clip, Alex, originally from the US, adds cold tap water to a mug with a teabag inside, before adding milk and sugar, and then places it in the microwave to heat.

She then removes the teabag, gives it a final stir and presents it to Paul, who is visibly repulsed.

“What is that? That is disgusting. Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude – but that is not a cup of tea," he says, before throwing the mug on the ground.

Alex, who previously appeared on Dancing on Ice in 2020 with Joe Swash, shared the video on TikTok - and others were pretty alarmed.

One person said: “That was so painful to watch u make.”

“No way he should leave you at once,” another user insisted.

“Throwing the cup was justified. If you say otherwise clearly you're not British,” added another person.

Another critic said: “When she used tap water I SCREAMED.”

Despite the controversy, Alex insists it was the way she was taught to make tea – and she hopes the British public will forgive her.

“This is how I grew up making it,” she said.

“It was a one-off – Paul usually makes the tea. He hated it. Everyone hated it! I never expected how many people would be so triggered.”
