The Simpsons has revealed a never-before-seen secret family member who's only just hit our screens after a colossal 797 episodes.

The beloved cartoon TV programme, which first hit our screens way back in 1989, has cemented itself as one of the longest-running sitcoms of all time, boasting hundreds upon hundreds of episodes.

Over the decades, we've all grown to love the weird yet wonderful chaos of The Simpsons family - Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, but it's clear that many people's fan favourite characters aren't actually in the core cast.

And, there are some characters which even die-hard fans haven't even met yet - and they're actually part of the Simpsons family clan.

Now, the new addition is actually related to Marge - a character whose family we're already super familiar with, given the cult status of her twin sisters Patty and Selma.

There's also her mother, Jacqueline Bouvier, along with her deceased father, Clancy Bouvier.

The newly introduced character is none other than Beatrice Bouvier, who is the aunt of Marge, Patty and Selma and the ex-wife of Mayor Joe Quimby.

Beatrice, who is voiced by The White Lotus's Carrie Coon, made her first and only appearance in the episode titled 'Sashes to Sashes' - AKA the 797th episode, which only came out a few days ago (16 November).

The episode in question dives into the history of the Quimby family, and it’s revealed that Quimby’s grandfather first came to the United States and eventually took control of a barrel factory.

Such a move paved the way for generational wealth, with his grandson, Joe Quimby the Third, running for office to carry on the family legacy.

It's at this point that he meets a young woman, Beatrice, who calls him out for not caring about the constituents and only for himself.

Beatrice eventually ends up working for Quimby as a political advisor, leading the pair to fall in love and get married.

However, given issues with his father, Beatrice couldn’t stay married to him, and the two decided to end their relationship there.

As for why she’s been kept as a secret by Marge?

Well, it was later revealed that she broke a four-year-old Marge’s heart by telling her there are no such things as princesses or love, though they work out their strained relationship in the episode.

Rushing to social media to share their reactions to the character reveal, one X user penned: "Wowww!"

Another joked: "If Patty and Selma were my Nieces, I'd probably avoid the family too."

And a final fan quipped: "The Simpsons still dropping new family lore in 2025 is kinda wild."
