Tell Me Lies fans have same disturbing complaint about 'f****d up' new episodes

The first three episodes dropped yesterday (13 January), and fans have already binge-watched them

Tell Me Lies is officially back - and it's more manipulative and dysfunctional than ever.

Season three of the fan-favourite Hulu TV show premiered yesterday (January 13) as the first three episodes were released.

For those who aren't familiar, it follows the lives of college students Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), who are in a toxic relationship that upends their lives and the lives of those around them.

They're terrible for each other, but can't seem to live without one another - and many fans who've found themselves in this kind of unhealthy relationship can relate.

As the show's description notes, they 'quickly fall into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter their lives and the lives of everyone around them; a tumultuous and intoxicating relationship unfolds over eight years'.

We're two seasons in now with the third just beginning, and the show has built up a dedicated fanbase.

The series operates across two timelines and alternates between present-day scenes in 2015 and the characters' college years between 2007 and 2008.

Fans became obsessed from the moment the debut series launched in 2022 to a 75 percent rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics.

But now some fans have complained that it should come with a trigger warning.

One X user penned: "On second thought, watching three episodes of the latest season of Tell Me Lies right before bed was probably not the best thing for my nervous system."

While a second added: "Tell me lies needs to start with a trigger warning I swear it gives me ptsd #tellmelieshulu."

And a third and fourth chimed in with: "This season is f***ed up" and "We have ALL dated a Stephan Demarco and we are still traumatised."

A fifth agreed: "There needs to be a trigger warning on Tell Me Lies. Watching my trauma on screen lol."

However, some fans think the show could come with a trigger warning (Hulu)

"I have chest pains after those 3 episodes," someone else admitted, while another viewer wrote: "So triggering to me when a guy calls a woman a piece of s***."

Others added: "I need therapy after tonight."

Tell Me Lies Season three will run a total of eight episodes, which will drop on Tuesdays.

The finale will air on Tuesday, February 17 - and it's set to be a dramatic one, so get your popcorn ready!
