Fans of the steamy sport hit Off Campus are concerned that one of Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis' most important book scenes could be cut from season two following a controversial cast announcement.
The speculation began after a fan account for the series shared a post to X highlighting Prime Video's returning cast announcement, pointing out that Riley Davis would not be returning for the second instalment.
While this doesn't confirm the scene will be scrapped, it has left fans wondering how the show will adapt the beloved 'Call Dean' moment from Elle Kennedy's book The Score without a key character involved.
For those unfamiliar with the scene, it sees Allie asking her best friend Hannah to call Dean after an upsetting confrontation with her drunken on-and-off college ex-boyfriend, Sean.

Garrett is also there at the time, manoeuvring Sean away from the area while Hannah becomes confused over why her friend seemingly needs former f**kboy Dean so desperately.
Hannah begins to realise that Allie and Dean have fallen well and truly head over heels for each other, with their relationship having become something much deeper than either of them might have initially expected.
Dean's response in the scene is equally significant, with the way he reacts to Allie's situation showing that he genuinely cares about her emotional wellbeing, proving their connection is far from being purely physical or sexual - he isn't simply someone Allie has chemistry with, he's someone she trusts and turns to when she's vulnerable.
It's a pivotal moment in their relationship, and one fans understandably don't want to lose.

However, not everyone thinks the absence of Riley means the heartfelt moment is doomed.
Reacting to the announcement, one viewer suggested: "I think they will play it as a phone call, or text or something, if he's not in it there will be other ways to go about it."
Another viewer believes the storyline could take a different direction altogether, writing: "I think it may turn into something revolving Allie's dad tbh."
A third fan agreed that Joe Hayes could be at the centre of the moment, suggesting that something involving Allie's father could leave her feeling suffocated and wanting Dean by her side.
Others have also pointed out that the television adaptation has already made changes to iconic book moments, meaning the creative team could find a new way to deliver the same emotional payoff.
And there is reason to think the scene won't simply disappear.

As previously reported by TV Insider, Allie actress Mika Abdalla has expressed her hope that the 'Call Dean' moment makes it into the adaptation, describing it as one of the most iconic scenes from The Score.
Season two will put Allie and Dean's romance firmly in the spotlight, following the emotional developments of the first season.
Prime Video confirmed earlier this week that the series will return on 28 April 2027, with Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn reprising their roles.
Whether the show recreates the scene exactly as it happens in the books or gives it a fresh twist remains to be seen.
But one thing is clear - fans want to see Dean show up for Allie when she needs him most.
