Maggie Simpson has finally found her voice, and fans are saying it 'changes everything' after watching a new clip of the youngest Simpson.

The Simpsons is one of the world's most-loved cartoon shows out there. It currently boasts over 800 episodes, reaching the monumental milestone during its 37th season, making it the longest-running American animated series, sitcom, and scripted primetime show by both seasons and episodes.

The programme first hit our screens way back in 1989 and, over the decades, we've all grown to love the weird yet wonderful chaos of The Simpsons family - Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

Maggie, however, is set for a pretty major change as the youngest in the Simpson family clan has just got a brand-new voice actor after a whopping 36 years. Take a look:

Now, it's been a long-running joke that Maggie rarely speaks, with her very first word being famously delivered by Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor in the 1992 episode titled 'Lisa’s First Word'.

But, in yesterday's episode (14 December), titled 'Parahormonal Activity', we hear none other than Freaky Friday star Lindsay Lohan voice Maggie.

The episode, which is set several years in the future, follows Bart as a teenager as he learns to drive while Marge is 'competently coping with the hormonal onslaught hitting her now teenage kids when she's suddenly struck by a big life change of her own, leaving Homer as the last sane person in the house… or is he?'.

Lohan took to Instagram on Saturday (13 December) to share a teaser clip for the episode, which saw Bart angrily announcing his intention to drive himself to school.

Maggie then gets upset, but Marge hushes her and instructs her to rest her voice due to 'still getting over that laryngitis' - a not-so-subtle nod to how little the character speaks.

However, Maggie then blurts out: "Please don’t let Bart drive, it’s too scary! He drives so wiggly, and everybody honks at us and yells bad words and shows us fingers!"

After catching light of the news, fans couldn't help but rush to social media to share their astonishment after finally hearing the fan-favourite character's voice after all these years.

"MAGGIE TALKS!!!" gushed one Instagram user while a second beamed: "SHE CAN TALK!"

A third chimed in: "Ain't no way Maggie can talk."

"What have I missed?" questioned a fourth while a fifth piped up: "Damn. Just changed everything. We were never supposed to hear her voice!"

A sixth gushed: "Finally Maggie speaks!"

And a final Instagram user added: "Lindsay Lohan as Maggie?!! Imma watch it when it airs!!"
