We've been treated to a whole bunch of cracking cinema and telly throughout January and I'm sure we're all very excited to find out what will be the next big thing to watch in February.

Well, people have already been absolutely loving the new Griselda series starring Sofía Vergara alongside one particularly hilarious flick with 'perfect casting' but there's one thriller starring the likes of Paul Mescal on Amazon Prime which has seemingly left viewers completely divided.

Check out the official trailer here:

The official Amazon Prime premise reads: "Hen (Saoirse Ronan) and Junior’s (Mescal) life is thrown into turmoil when a stranger shows up at their door with a startling proposal.

"Will they risk their relationship and personal identity for a chance to survive in a new world?

"With mesmerising imagery and persistent questions about the nature of humanity (and artificial humanity), Foe brings the not-too-distant future to luminous life."

The film in question, Foe, was released back in October last year but has recently been receiving a bit of buzz online, with many viewers left somewhat torn between their love of Mescal's acting skills and their disappointment of the flick in general.

One X, formerly Twitter, user penned: "I just watched Foe… the epitome of something that sounds good in theory but not execution.

"Paul Mescal put every ounce of his acting experience into a scene about boogers and I about screamed lmao."

A second wrote: "I watched that movie Foe, with Saiorse Roman and Paul Mescal.

"It was missing something. I couldn't connect with the characters. It was predictable, too. I'm surprised because Saiorse is usually a guarantee that a movie will be worth watching for me. Disappointing."

"I’m watching Foe and I didn’t know that Paul Mescal would have an American accent," a third chimed in. "That was the number one most jarring thing I have ever seen in a movie in my LIFE."

A fourth revealed: "SOS Paul Mescal in Foe is giving me the ick lol."

"Oh lord, Paul Mescal's monologue in Foe," echoed a fifth, while a final user added: "I started watching Foe and I'm loving Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan but it's making me so nervous about climate change."

Foe sits at just 25 percent on Rotten Tomatoes - the lowest score of Mescal's entire filmography.

It seems it wasn't just the people of X feeling down by the film as it currently has a 25 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes - the lowest score of Mescal's entire filmography.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about the largely negative reviews Foe received, the All of Us Strangers star admitted: "Something that I’m learning about myself and my taste is that I want people to have really strong opinions - so much, sometimes, that I want to scream.

"It stings a bit when people are talking about [Foe] in a certain context, but that’s just the fact of what making films is… If I’m lucky enough to have a career that spans it, you want to make choices that are polarizing, because that means the material is innately challenging."

He added: "I have zero reservations about the process of making that film."

Foe is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.
