One of Netflix's latest additions, The Perfect Couple, has proven to be quite the fan favourite after climbing to the prestigious 'No. 1 in TV Programmes Today' spot after just a matter of days since it dropped.

The six-part limited whodunnit series, which stars Nicole Kidman and Eve Hewson, tells the tale of the extremely wealthy Winbury family, notorious across the US living it up in affluent area of Nantucket, near Cape Cod.

However, when a lavish wedding ends in total disaster before it can even begin, with a body discovered just hours before the ceremony, everyone at the wedding party becomes a suspect.

Now, the chilling new thriller has clearly proven itself one of the streamer's biggest hitters at the moment but some Netflix viewers have been left divided over a small detail at the beginning of each episode.

Given the pretty harrowing context of the plot, it seems pretty bizarre that the series' opening credits scene sees the entire star-studded cast having, well, a boogie.

They all perform a synchronised dance to Meghan Trainor's 'Criminals' - I know, very on the nose.

Some viewers weren't too sure about how they felt about the dance sequence, with one X user hitting out: "I’ve been busy and I wanna finish watching #ThePerfectCouple. But every episode they start with that damn dancing I just—."

Another added: "I need an entire explanation to The Perfect Couple unhinged dance opening and also an explanation as to why I never skip it and watch it excitedly every episode."

However, it seems that some viewers absolutely loved the incongruous dance sequence, with one commenting: "It’s actually so stupid but the dance at the start of every episode of #ThePerfectCouple is the best, most unserious thing they could’ve done."

"Many critics took The Perfect Couple too seriously," declared someone else. "The fact that each episode of this whodunnit starts with the cast dancing to a Meghan Trainor song is already so unserious. The Perfect Couple is a glossy and campy treat."

Another chimed in: "The Perfect Couple on Netflix is a perfect show. Every single person has a different accent even though they’re all supposed to be American -except for Nicole Kidman, who gets to use her real accent, and there’s also a dance sequence."

While a final X user echoed: "Not skipping intro! Love the dancing!! Murder mystery night!!"

The Perfect Couple is currently available to stream on Netflix.
