A multi-millionaire has sparked backlash online after revealing he paid a model £50,000 to be his egg donor because he 'didn't want ugly children'.

Yep, you read that right - Barrie Drewitt-Barlow made the bold statement during an appearance on a recent episode of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over.

Barlow, who was born in the UK, Manchester to be specific, lives between his huge mansions in Essex, and Florida, US, and now has eight children via surrogacy.

During the episode of the BBC show, he revealed that he forked out a whopping £50k and offered it to a catwalk model in Miami, in exchange for some of her eggs.

A clip that's been doing the rounds on Twitter, sees Stacey ask the millionaire: "A model? What drew you to her?"

Unashamedly, Drewitt-Barlow very candidly responded: "Initially her looks. It was her looks completely. I'm absolutely honest about it. Why the hell not?"

He recalled: "When I saw her on the catwalk I looked at Scott [his partner] and I went 'oh f**k she is stunning.

"I tell you her legs were six feet in the air. We've got hundreds of those models on our books right now."

Presenter Stacey then told the couple: "That reasoning from your point of view will infuriate some people."

However, the dad-of-eight seems all too familiar with the backlash and mentioned how people accuse him of 'just buying a beautiful baby'.

Defending his decision, he continued: "Most people could do a lot worse than spend one month of their life on drugs to give some embryos for $50,000."

"Do you worry that it's a slippery slope? If we start just saying oh we just want beautiful kids?" Stacey asked.

But, Drewitt-Barlow bluntly responded with: "No. I don't. What do you want me to say? We need ugly ones as well? Sorry, I just can't lie."

"Nobody wants an ugly kid. Sometimes we get them but we don't always want them and we deal with it and carry on."

Shocked by the comments, Stacey went on to reason: "I just don't think that would be a priority for me if I were to go down that route. The idea that it's got to be stunning. I think that's what gives people... that's what rubs them up the wrong way."

But, the multi-millionaire shrugged it off and replied: "Well, I couldn't really give a flying f**k about rubbing anybody up the wrong way.

"That's not what I'm about, I couldn't care less. In an honest world, you want your kids to have a chance."

Understandably, his views have not gone down well with everyone and the video has sparked quite the debate on social media.

Reacting to the snippet from the episode, one user hit back with: "Nobody wants to raise a kid who winds up ugly on the inside either, but here we are."

Another agreed: "He's demonstrating that some people are ugly on the inside."

While a third wrote: "It seems like he sees babies as an attractive accessory - and the women providing eggs and wombs are disposable."

And a fourth chimed in with: "This is so indescribably awful. Seriously."

However, some people did rush to defend the couple, with one user writing: "She's being so dishonest. Of course she wants a beautiful baby."

A second agreed: "I don't see the problem here? Billions of men and women dream to have beautiful, tall, attractive partners. This men would probably have a baby with that model if he wasn't gay."

While a third added: "As long as the baby is safe, unharmed, well taken care of, clean, fed and happy. That’s all."
