People can't stop binge-watching the 'brilliant' new period thriller which first dropped on Paramount+ last week (27 November).

Set in Victorian London, the series, which has been adapted from the novel of the same name by Elisabeth MacNeal, follows the story of a young woman called Iris Wittle - a porcelain-doll painter who burns to become an artist.

Check out the official trailer here:

The six-part series, The Doll House, follows Iris, played by Esmé Creed-Miles, who paints dolls for a living alongside her resentful twin sister, Rose Whittle, played by Mirren Mack, who is scarred by smallpox.

The official synopsis continues: "Iris then meets two men, Silas and Louis, where their lives become intertwined.

"As the series unfolds, dark, chilling truths are exposed."

Joining the likes of Creed-Miles and Mack includes Normal People's Eanna Hardwicke as Silas and Derry Girls' Saorise-Monica Jackson as Bluebell.

Written by Charley Miles and directed by Sacha Polak, the series has clearly been a hit with viewers - with many rushing to social media to share their adoration of it.

The Doll House premiered on Paramount+ last week (27 November).

One YouTube user penned: "Looking forward to it! The book is brilliant!"

A second echoed: "Book was great! I read it in two days as I couldn't stop reading so this will be good I hope!"

"That looks awesome. Will have to check it out," wrote a third.

A fourth chimed in: "I'm surprised by how good this looks!"

"Looks like a drama for women who love period romance stories, with a very small amount of 'mystery' sprinkled in," added another.

Other fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to likewise share their praise for the series.

One user recommended the show, writing: "For anyone looking to binge on a series, I'd recommend The Doll Factory on Paramount+."

"I'm in total awe of the talents of the cast and crew who made this thing, in all its beauty and darkness. It’s out now on Paramount+ and I LOVE IT," added a second.

A final Twitter user quipped: "I haven't watched The Doll Factory yet but I am very excited to!"

You and me both.

Well, while it's definitely not your typical Love Actually, The Holiday and Home Alone Christmas viewing - this new period drama is looking like a keen contender to cosy up to this festive period.

The Doll Factory is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
