Taylor Swift’s new music video for ‘Patient Zero’ is teaming with famous faces, including a 50 Shades of Grey actress, a soon-to-be American Horror Story star, and a former professional ice hockey player.
Amid picking up a trio of gongs at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (27 September), Swift, 36, premiered the accompanying film for her new track, ‘Patient Zero’.
“The Patient Zero video is finally out in the world! Getting to work with @chivexp was something out of a dream sequence, and I learned so much from getting to watch his genius in action,” the singer wrote via Instagram following the visuals’ debut.
She continued: "With the Patient Zero video, I got to explore the cinematic and literary genres I love so much. I wanted to incorporate elements of gothic ghost stories, true crime, psychological thrillers all in a setting I hadn’t really shot in much.

“The house was a metaphor for the coldness of a relationship that’s faded and atrophied.
"Thank you to @ethantobman for your insightful production design, and bringing that feeling to life.
“My editor @chancler has outdone himself. And lastly, thank you to the @vmas for giving us a World Premiere at the place where celebrating music videos became a thing. And so much love for you guys, always,” the American added.
Like most of Swift’s visual accompaniments, ‘Patient Zero’ features some big names.
In the past, she’s enlisted the likes of Zendaya, Dita Von Teese, Spider-Man: Brand New Day actress Sadie Sink, and many more celebrities.
Here are all the famous faces that appear in the ‘Patient Zero’ music video—and the ones you may have missed!
Colin Farrell
The deuteragonist and subsequent antagonist of the ‘Patient Zero’ music video is played by none other than Colin Farrell.
The 50-year-old Irish actor was brought on board as the villainous boyfriend, seemingly intent on treading the same path that led to his ex Swift’s demise with new girl Dakota Johnson.

The ‘Bad Blood’ singer called Farrell an ‘absolute light and as kind as they come’.
“Colin's turn as a villain is even more impressive when you get to be around him,” she continued.
Dakota Johnson
The Materialists’ favourite Dakota Johnson is the star of the show when it comes to the ‘Patient Zero’ music video.
The 36-year-old plays the girlfriend of Farrel’s character, whom the viewer learns is unknowingly mirroring his former flame, played by Swift.

In the visual, the music maker and the actress wear the same outfits, frequent the same places, and even have the same hairstyle.
At one point, both struggle through tribulations with Farrell, including a mysterious poisoning.
Swift praised the Verity actress for coming onboard for ‘Patient Zero’, writing on Instagram: Giggling with your friend because you’re twinning for an entire shoot was a new and truly delightful experience’.
Cara Delevingne
Blink, and you might miss her; Swift’s long-time gal pal Cara Delevingne appeared in the MTV VMA-premiered music video.
The model, 34, appears as Farrell’s new girlfriend in a party scene of the psychological thriller-themed video.
“Thank you for agreeing to play the lusty other woman. That’s what friends are for?,” Swift quipped.

Delevingne’s appearance comes amid the release of her new record, Not Normal, and ahead of her stint in Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid, set to be released on 6 November in the United States.
She is also set to star in the 13th season of American Horror Story.
Sports star superstar
Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, former ice hockey icon Jarret Stoll, and marketing executive Steven Cundari, who is going out with Fox Sports host Charissa Thompson, all feature in the ‘Patient Zero’ video.
Fans believe that Swift used her Emmys Law & Order sketch to tease Stafford’s appearance, as well as other stars like Johnson and Farrell.
Swift said in the skit, “I think what we’re gonna be looking for is hiding in plain sight: Saccharide Aries from the vineyard north or south.”
Fans were quick to deduce that ‘saccharide’ related to Farrell for his role in Apple TV’s Sugar while Stafford, as a player for the Rams, relates to Aries, a zodiac sign often depicted by a ram.
Delevingne, whose surname is Old French for ‘from the vine’, is related to the ‘from the vineyard’ portion, whilst Johnson is linked to ‘north or south’, the two states of Dakota.
Pretty smart, right? You can listen to ‘Patient Zero’ now.
