Dakota Johnson has savage reaction to movie that was box office flop
Dakota Johnson has seemingly found the perfect way to deal with Madame Web questions - by simply pretending the whole thing never happened.
The actress has once again been asked about the controversial superhero flick - released in February 2024 - and her response was so brutally deadpan that it has reignited the internet’s fascination with her infamous Madame Web press tour.
For those in need of a reminder, the big-name blockbuster saw Johnson, 36, taking on the lead role of Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic who develops clairvoyant abilities and discovers she can see possible futures.

She soon finds herself protecting three young women whose destinies are connected to her own, while a mysterious villain attempts to hunt them down.
The film was directed by S.J. Clarkson and featured a seriously stacked cast, including Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott alongside Johnson.
On paper, it had all the ingredients for a major superhero hit - but in reality, the film was deemed by critics to be a swing an a miss.
Madame Web opened to $15.3 million domestically and ultimately made around $100.3 million worldwide, while receiving a 12% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yet, in one of the stranger twists to come out of the film’s legacy, Madame Web later found a huge audience on Netflix. According to reporting citing Bloomberg, it became Sony's biggest streaming title on Netflix in 2024, despite its theatrical performance.
Despite this, Johnson has seemingly attempted to cut all ties with the movie.
While promoting her upcoming thriller Verity, the star was asked about Madame Web once again, to which she issued a brutal response.
"I don't remember that movie," Johnson told press.
That’s it. No lengthy explanation or retrospective analysis - just a hilariously blunt dismissal that immediately left fans in stiches.
"This is FRYING MEEEE," one Instagram user jibed.
Another teased: "Her web was unable to connect us all."
A third joked of her lack of memory: "Me neither honey, me neither."
Johnson became almost as famous for her Madame Web interviews as she was for starring in the film, with several of her comments going viral during the original press tour.
She previously joked about barely watching Marvel movies and said she'll 'never' do 'something like' this genre of film again.
"I had never done anything like it before," Johnson explained. "I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now.
"But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, 'Wait, what?'.
"But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand."
