Directed by Michael Showalter, Verity follows Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer who is hired by Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett) to complete a bestselling book series after his wife Verity (Hathaway) is left unable to write following a car accident.
Lowen moves into the Crawford family home to work on the unfinished novels, but things quickly take a sinister turn. As she digs deeper into Verity’s life and discovers disturbing secrets, the lines between reality, fiction and fantasy begin to blur.

Johnson has now revealed to fans that she fainted during shooting.
Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers a few weeks back (1 October), the host asked the 50 Shades star: "I heard you had a sort of a scary moment on set."
"I'm an actress," Johnson said with a laugh after showing the 'biggest scan of emotions'. "I, yeah, I fainted into Josh Hartnett's arms."
"Because of Josh Hartnett or because of something else?" Meyers queried before asking, "Why did you faint?"

Johnson continued: "Well, turns out I had a kidney infection, so I just, like, passed out.
"We were in the middle of a scene like this, and it's very serious. And he's like, 'Would you have come if you knew that Verity was in a wheelchair? '
"And I just... And he kind of, like, caught me and laid me down on the ground. And then when I came to, I was like, 'Sorry, guys, let's go again!' And they were like, 'Uh, you're going to the hospital.'"
Assuring fans, she added: "It was funnier than dramatic."
Responding to Johnson's admission, one Instagram user gushed: "The best place to faint is in Josh’s arms!"
Another quipped: "I hope it's in the blooper reel!"
And a third piped up: "My God, so sorry… Hope you’re fine!"
Johnson has previously opened up about her 'spicy sapphic scenes' alongside Hathaway.
Speaking to Out, the Hollywood A-lister was asked about such scenes, to which she responded: "Spicy sapphic scenes! I love that! That'll be on my tombstone. It was very technical, but obviously incredibly enjoyable.
"I got to make out with the two of them for a few hours! One of them would be under me, one would slide out, and then another would slide in. It was very technical, and that is art."
Verity is currently available to watch in selected cinemas.
