Selena Gomez faces major backlash over ‘disrespectful’ act at Beyoncé concert

Selena Gomez has been criticised after she was accused of being 'disrespectful' at a Beyoncé concert this week.

The singer, 32, attended Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter concert at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this weekend, but it seems Selena was a little distracted by another performance on her phone.

After sharing a few snaps from her time at the gig, fans were left fuming when they noticed one image in particular.

In one photo, Selena appears to be watching Beyoncé from a box, but can also be seen streaming the Knicks vs Pacers basketball game from her phone.

"Still got my eye on the game," she captioned the photo.

And fans were not happy at all.

One person wrote on X: "Selena Gomez really said Beyoncé’s concert is too boring she really started watching a basketball game."

While another said: "All of this for Selena Gomez to end up watching basketball instead of Beyoncé's show? So disrespectful."

And a third added: "Not even a basketballer is watching basketball at a Beyoncé concert."

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "Selena Gomez is at a Beyoncé concert watching a basketball game... Usually I wouldn't care, but nah the disrespect."

Others were quick to defend Selena, with many claiming it wasn't a big deal and adding that they would have done the same.

One person wrote: "Y'all drag her for literally anything."

While another said: "I live in NYC and plenty of my friends who went to the Cowboy Carter show last night also had the game on their phones… I'm not a basketball fan but apparently it's been a big deal."

And a third added: "In fairness the last time Knicks won a championship, Beyoncé wasn't born. So let fans enjoy two things."

Another wrote: "I also wouldn't do it at her concert but come on lol. Sometimes if it's an important game, it's hard to resist having it on in the background of whatever you're busy with."

Selena isn't the only famous face to have attended Beyoncé's concerts recently.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry enjoyed a date night at one of the shows.

Meghan wrote on Instagram: "About last night…. Thank you @beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love."

Meghan shared a number of snaps from the show, including her and Harry dancing and a sweet clip of the Duke of Sussex kissing her cheek.
