Singer Lorde has been called out on social media after she admitted to watching Pamela Anderson’s sex tape and called it 'beautiful.'
Ahead of the release of her new album Virgin, which is set to be released next month (27 June), the 28-year-old New Zealander behind hits such as ‘Royals’ and ‘Green Light’ has been doing a bit of promo.
But she made a rather controversial confession during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

Lorde - real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor - admitted that she'd watched Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s infamous sex tape, while under the influence of psychedelics and said she found it 'beautiful.'
This is despite Anderson saying that having the tape stolen and distributed without her and Lee's consent in the 1990s was a really traumatic experience.
In a Netflix documentary about the incident, the Baywatch actress called it 'such an invasion.'

"We were angry, hurt and upset," she said and claimed she 'knew at that point that [her] career was over.'
Speaking about watching the tape, Lorde told the outlet: "I found it so beautiful. And maybe it’s f***ed up that I watched it, but I saw two people that were so in love with each other, and there was this purity.
"They were jumping off this big boat... They were like children. They were so free. And I just was like, 'Whoa. Being this free comes with danger.'"

She framed watching the video as part of a larger journey of healing and introspection but social media users were not happy, pointing out the fact that Anderson has spoken out at length about how traumatic the leak was.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote: "Pamela Anderson talked about how traumatic her relationship with Tommy was and how their tape has brought her a lot of pain but Lorde is out here talking about 'oh it’s so beautiful' f***ing weirdo."
Another commented: "Imagine having your most private moments stolen and published without consent. Why would anyone give this cruelty more attention?"

A third added: "Lorde is low key a hypocrite for this bc she dragged Lana for 'romanticizing abuse' and now she’s reframing an abusive relationship as being 'beautiful' despite the fact Pamela Anderson has repeatedly stated how much that relationship/her sex tape being leaked traumatized her."
And a fourth simply said: "Lorde, I just can't defend your a** no more."
