The Kardashians fans seriously divided as Gypsy Rose Blanchard appears on newest season of show

The Kardashians fans seriously divided as Gypsy Rose Blanchard appears on newest season of show

The convicted second-degree murderer appears to have achieved the ultimate 'celebrity' status

It's the star-studded crossover we never knew we needed, as convicted second-degree murderer Gypsy Rose Blanchard is due to make an appearance on the upcoming instalment of The Kardashians.

I know, I bet that's a sentence you never expected to read when you woke up this morning...

Apparently, however, the massively unexpected revelation has come as a huge shock to hundreds of fans of the US reality hit, which centres on the lives and loves of the Kardashian-Jenner brood - Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kylie, Kendall and their 'momager' Kris.

And by the sounds of things, some fanatics aren't particularly pleased by the latest - and rather controversial - addition to the cast.

For those unfamiliar with Gypsy's hotly-debated criminal history, allow us to fill you in...

The 34-year-old was released early from her eight-year sentence in December last year, for her second-degree role in the 2015 murder of her mother 'Dee Dee' Blanchard.

At the time, the then-teenager had conspired with her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to commit a crime which shook the globe, after it was discovered that Dee Dee had forced a young Gypsy into getting unnecessary medical procedures and convinced everyone around them that she was severely sick.

After serving her time, however, Gypsy - who surprisingly accumulated a pretty hefty fan-base during her time behind bars - has somehow managed to shake off her jailbird status, and has actually become a pretty huge-name star.

She's given numerous high-profile interviews, enjoyed several highly-publicised romances - including a divorce and new relationship - appeared on countless red carpets and will even be fronting her own brand new documentary in the coming weeks, which centres on life after prison.

"I think that I'm entering into a new era in my life, definitely, having learned a lot about me over these last four months," she told press following her release.

"I think that right now I'm just trying to move forward in my life and kind of showing who I am and discovering."

On top of this, Gypsy Rose has managed to strike up friendships with several big-name stars.

Just last month, she and 'Espresso' hitmaker Sabrina Carpenter appeared to be cosying up after an iconic online interaction.

And this week, it's been announced that Gypsy will even be joining the cast of the Kardashians, with a teaser seeing the ex-con catching up with new gal pal Kim K.

In the short clip released by Hulu/Disney+, mother-of-four and licensed criminal lawyer Kim can be seen knocking on the door of a hotel room, only to be met with an excited-looking Gypsy.

"Hi, Gypsy!" the SKIMS boss can be heard exclaiming, before the former convict replies, "Hi!"

The - quite frankly, hilarious - clip has since gone viral on social media, with many fans of the show both excited and intrigued to see how a Kim X Gypsy collaboration will turn out, and how exactly their paths ended up crossing.

"This is so unserious but so iconic wait I’m living for this" one fan gushed online.

Another went on to admit: "This link up was not on my 2024 bingo list".

Others, however, aren't too pleased with the on-screen crossover, and many are hitting out at the reality TV family for consolidating Gypsy's 'celebrity' status.

"Nothing iconic about inviting a criminal who killed her own mother," one wrote.

Another continued: "it's kinda weird how she's turning into a celebrity"

"can we stop turning her into a celebrity..." a third begged.

Ahh, Gypsy. Ever the queen of controversy...
