Demi Moore reveals how fame took toll on her after sharing extreme workout regime

Demi Moore reveals how fame took toll on her after sharing extreme workout regime

Demi Moore has revealed the unrealistic expectations she set upon her postpartum body after giving birth to her daughter in 1991

Demi Moore has shared the intense workout routine she subjected herself to after the birth of her second child in 1991.

Moore, 61, who was married to Die Hard's Bruce Willis between 1987 and 2000, had three children with the fellow actor.

After the birth of Scout Willis, Moore, who lived in California at the time, put herself through a gruelling fitness routine while filming Indecent Proposal.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Moore said: “I was feeding her through the night, getting up in the dark with a trainer … biking all the way to Paramount, even on location where we were shooting; then shooting a full day, which is usually a 12-hour day; and then starting all over again."

She added: "I think [Scout] was, like, five or six months old when we were shooting."

Moore touched on the unrealistic expectations she put upon her postpartum body.

She said: "I put so much pressure on myself.

“I did have experiences of being told to lose weight. And all of those, while they may have been embarrassing and humiliating, it’s what I did to myself because of that.

“Even just the idea of what I did to my body, it’s so crazy, so ridiculous."

Moore is currently starring in body horror flick The Substance, which has received rave reviews.

Moore portrays Elisabeth Sparkle, a famous TV star in her 50s who will stop at nothing to create a 'perfect version' of herself, indulging in experimental drug The Substance, which has horrifying side effects.

Regarding the role, Moore told BBC News: "It was a completely unique, out-of-the-box script, you could tell it was visually stimulating.

"And at the same time, we had no idea how it would end up, which made it even more risky and juicy."

Moore had to face a less than perfect version of herself in the film.

She continued: "Part of what made it interesting was going to such a raw, vulnerable place, to really kind of peel away.

"And it was quite liberating in many respects."

The film also stars Maid's Margaret Qualley as Sue, the better, younger version of Elizabeth, achieved by taking black market drug The Substance.

One person reacted on X: "The Substance is absolutely terrific. It’s been years since I saw a film that just went for it and didn’t stop. This is proper, old-school body horror, very funny and unbelievably gruesome. Demi Moore gives the performance of her life. The last 30 mins had me gasping. Loved it."

The Substance is out in UK cinemas now.
