Jenna Ortega reveals sad reason she wouldn’t eat or drink 'all day' on set as a child star

Jenna Ortega made a shocking revelation about growing up in Hollywood.

The Wednesday star was working in TV and film from a young age, and she has confessed it's not all it's cracked up to be.

She recalled how he often went entire days without food or drink for a sad reason.

Ortega explained in a new interview with Esquire how she always tried to do her absolute best on set: “I really had it going for me as a child ‘cause I can’t think of one mistake I made."

"Is that a terrible thing to say? I feel like I make mistakes now all the time, but as a child, I was so grateful and so excited to be there that my game face was on.”

Part of that 'game face' was trying to attract as little attention as possible, and that meant denying her most basic needs.

“I wasn’t asking for a sip of water,” she explained.

“I would go all day without eating, drinking, whatever, because I wanted so badly to not be in the way of anybody," she said sadly.

Ortega continued, “Maybe that was my mistake, was not actually looking after myself.”

Now xx, her first big break came at the age of just 13, when she landed the lead role in a Disney show called Stuck in the Middle, which first aired in 2016.

She also starred in the likes of Richie Rich, Jane the Virgin, You, and Elena of Avalor.

The star was also asked her opinions about child stars and the stigma or stereotypes about them.

“Is it wrong to say that a lot of them are true? And do with that what you will," she said candidly.

She said she wanted to be an actress from a very young age, telling her parents about her dream.

“I was 7 years old when I said I wanted to do this,” Ortega said.

“My parents laughed at me when I told them that I wanted to do it, and then that was kind of the root of everything. The motivation, " she revealed.

"And I never really stopped, because I’m very stubborn. And then I never questioned it," needless to say, it all paid off.

She also revealed how landing the role of Wednesday Addams changed her life 'overnight'.

"It really was overnight. I think it was on Thanksgiving, and I was on a walk with my nephew, and some lady did some illegal behind-the-wheel work to get around, so I would take a photo with her daughter; they were screaming from their car, and I was wearing sweats and no make-up," she remembered.
